Amazing TV with some annoyances

I have been bugging my wife about getting a 4k since they were available many years ago and this is the one, I love this TV. We have had the TV for about 7 weeks now. The bezels on the TV are thin and the TV just looks very premium to me. Some don't like the legs but once I found a TV stand that it fits on, I think they look very nice. (I also purchased the stand from my local Best Buy - Whalen BBAVC60-MBC - and am extremely happy with it). This TV has Dolby Vision - which all Samsung TVs lack sadly. Viewing angles are great on the 75" TV. One of the Best Buy locations near me has the 75" model of this TV in the same room as TVs that cost twice as much (LG 77" and Samsung 8k). This TV really holds its own. I am a fan of Android TV for the most part as I am part of the Android ecosystem. On this TV, the UI is very snappy and all of the apps I could want are available and work well (NetFlix, Amazon Prime Video, Vimeo, YouTube, Google Music/YouTube Music). The remote is a joy to use. It has a great premium feel. It is big enough not to get lost - but by no means large. The TV gets along fairly well over ARC with my Denon receiver and Samsung UHD Blu Ray player.
So now some negatives.
I had a bit of a scare as we turned the TV on a week or so ago and green vertical bars were running up and down the screen. I unplugged the TV and they went away. It still has me concerned they could come back and not go away.
Some have complained about blooming on this TV due to the low dimming zone count. I suppose on a black background with white text, the letters have more of a "glow" than they should but it doesn't bother me. If someone wasn't telling me this was a defect I wouldn't notice it. The far corners of the screen (like 1" by 1" square) are slightly less lit up than the rest of the screen in some scenes.
The Google Assistant sometimes works brilliantly and other times it doesn't. "Hey Google, turn off Family Room TV" currently only works 20% of the time.
I wish Sony would have given us more than 16GB of RAM. I haven't run out yet but over time, the OS and apps are probably going to grow to the point where I am going to have to carefully pick and choose.
I am not happy about the "Sponsored" row that appears on the home screen courtesy of Google. The story is that Google patched this "Sponsored" row into the Android TV Home as a "pilot" program. Call it whatever sneaky PR term you want, it is 100% advertising and it takes up approximately 20-25% of the Home screen and currently cannot be moved or easily disabled! I'm hoping that Sony will convince Google to stop these shenanigans as they are a black eye on an otherwise excellent product.

Every other day I have to restart the tv in order to get sound from apps like Netflix, amazon prime. If the manufacturer wants to advertise it as a smart tv they have to be able to fix this issue. I have to reach the back of the surge protector to unplug the tv and wait one minute, sometimes I just give up.

This needs to get attention from Sony. I and other co-workers have collectively purchased 5 of the G model based on my recommendation. I was hoping to get an 85" H model for the basement in a few weeks but now am having second thoughts. I cannot continue to recommend the X950 line while this issue exists.

Im wondering where most of the storage went it states on the hard drive 440 free of 475 so im sitting here wondering where the rest of it went and it gives you the option to remove and clear stuff but im not very technical with it so i’ll leave it as is but otherwise the big screen is a good upgrade the only thing that sucks is if its night i have to have a light on as no backlit keyboard so that sucks but overall seems ok.

The missing space is not due to anything with the Surface. This is just the way hard drive space math works and it has been going on for decades. Here's the math (not my work).
1 kibibyte = 1024 bytes.
1 mebibyte = 1024*1024 = 1048576
1 gibibyte = 1024*1024*1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes
512 GB = 1,073,741,824 * 512 = 549,755,813,888
1 mebibyte = 1024*1024 = 1048576
1 gibibyte = 1024*1024*1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes
512 GB = 1,073,741,824 * 512 = 549,755,813,888
And what happens if you take 512000000000 / 549,755,813,888? You get the number 0.9313
And when you take 512 and multiply that by 0.9313? You get 476.8
The discrepancy stems from the fact that a KiB is 1024 bytes not 1000 bytes. Once you multiply that 2.4% error several times, you get a pretty significant discrepancy, as you can see.

How can I connect a wireless mouse and external storage to the surface pro 8, without any USB ports? Is there something you recommend using?
If you want to stay wireless, then a Bluetooth mouse would be a good option. Bluetooth mice can be just a bit laggy. They would not be good for games, but probably fine for productivity work.
Now for some great news. The Surface Pro 8 has 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports on it. Thunderbolt 4 uses the newer USB C connector standard and is much more powerful than traditional USB. For example, with the right adapter (usually called a "hub" or "dock") you could connect 2 4K monitors to the Surface Pro 8. Of course, you could also plug in a lowly USB mouse to the Thunderbolt 4 port with the right adapter but you would be wasting the power the Thunderbolt 4 port offers.
So, the key here is finding the right adapter for you. Broadly speaking, you want a "Thunderbolt 4 Hub" of some sort if you are wanting to take full advantage of Thunderbolt 4. Since Thunderbolt 4 is so new, you may have trouble finding a Thunderbolt 4 hub that is reasonably priced. I linked the only one Best Buy carries (the Razor Thunderbolt 4 dock).
Some potential traps
* Surface Dock 2. It may work, but it is older - and somewhat strange proprietary tech that doesn't follow the Thunderbolt standard.
* Generic "USB C hub" or "USB C dock". You want to see "Thunderbolt 3" or ideally "Thunderbolt 4" on the specs. I know it is confusing because Thunderbolt 4 requires the USB C connector. But USB C is not necessarily Thunderbolt (the other way around). That said, depending on your use case, a USB C hub (like the linked Insignia) would technically work and would likely be much cheaper than a Thunderbolt hub if all you want is old-school USB ports or other older equipment.
* For me anyway, the connector cables on 90% of the hubs are much too short! Why are they only 6 inches long usually!? If you are looking for something portable, then a short cable may be fine, but in my case, I would be looking to HIDE the hub somewhere out of site on my desk - in which case the short connector cables are a no-go. I wanted to ask you for some feedback. I currently have the 85in 950h and I like everything about but that ugly light reflection it make the screen have this rainbow lines across. Is this a defect on my TV and I need to exchange?
The rainbow effect is normal. It is a side-effect of Sony's X-Wide Angle tech that is on the 55 inch and above x950H. It is a compromise. You can see great color and brightness even when not sitting directly in front of the screen with X-Wide Angle, but you do get the rainbow reflection when other light sources hit the screen.

What would be the main difference between X950H and X900H besides the price? I can only think, it may be proccessor speed, but how much faster is it?
X950H has higher brightness nits and more full array zones and is more expensive. X900h has full HDMI 2.1 support whereas x950h only supports a subset notably eARC. Check out the you tube videos comparing these two. They go into much more detail.

Is there any way to remove the PERMANENT ADS from the home screen from the latest update?
Sony has a page on their site regarding this. They say it is not possible. Not happy. They are on the x950g too which is what I have. The ads take up almost half the screen. Sony I am about ready to buy another TV for the basement. X950h was at the top of my list but now am considering brands.
