Seemingly darker presentation than Blu-ray counterpart (with exceptions of course). Came with an HD (not UHD) digital copy. Terrific film! Wholesome and praiseworthy. Highly recommend.

Video poor to fair, and it has many blemishes. There is even a big obvious line in the print on one scene. Audio sounds fine for 2-channel surround. You can hear Kenny Loggins and dialogue clearly. Overall, it was entertaining B-movie - one for rainy day rewatching.
Christopher Nolan steps back into the director's chair for this sequel to Batman Begins, which finds the titular superhero coming face to face with his greatest nemesis - the dreaded Joker. Christian Bale returns to the role of Batman, Maggie Gyllenhaal takes over the role of Rachel Dawes (played by Katie Holmes in Batman Begins), and Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger dons the ghoulishly gleeful Joker makeup previously worn by Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero. Just as it begins to appear as if Batman, Lt. James Gordon (Gary Oldman), and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) are making headway in their tireless battle against the criminal element, a maniacal, wisecracking fiend plunges the streets of Gotham City into complete chaos.

Though I do not think it was supposed to, my purchase did not come with a digital copy. (I also purchased Batman Begins which did come with one.) The greenish blue tint from the old Blu-ray is gone. IMAX shots look sharper also. This is film 2 of 3 in the Nolan Batman series. [Side note: I was a bit thrown off guard initially when seeing the role of Rachel Dawes turned over to Maggie Gyllenhaal after Katie Holmes.]
In 1979, a group of small-town Ohio teenagers accidentally films a train wreck while making a Super 8 movie. The sudden arrival of the military and a series of bizarre occurrences prompt the kids to conduct their own investigation, leading them into the middle of a government cover-up of an extraterrestrial that crashed over 20 years earlier. But is the alien visitor friend or foe? Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler star in this sci-fi thriller from writer/director J.J. Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg. 111 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks English Dolby TrueHD 7.1, DVS, French Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles English (SDH), French; featurettes; audio commentary; deleted scenes.

A/V quality is good. I’ll be a bit critical first and then try to end on a positive note… Frankly, the story admittedly isn’t my favorite extraterrestrial story. It seems like a well-done made-for-tv script on a high-dollar budget. I struggled to determine what type of a movie that it wanted to be until the climax (thriller/scary or drama like E.T.). It has sort of a choppy start and then gets interesting and focused about the train scene. However, the ending (though appropriate and somewhat “happy”) was a bit of a let down personally upon first viewing. The alien doesn’t look too real IMO. (Though, for some reason, it does look better on the 4K UHD format.) That said, the boy-girl interest (between the two most interesting characters) is innocent and heartwarming (and heartfelt given their background). These characters grew on me, but overall, I didn’t care as much for the others (which seemed either slightly generic or stereotypical). What I ultimately gathered from story is that there is just as much significance with the main characters’ inner struggle (from the beginning) as it is the situation they are facing (alien encounter in their small town). I suspect that many find the resolution satisfying nonetheless.
Terrorists seize an L.A. skyscraper and hold everyone inside prisoner. That is, everyone except New York cop John McClane (Bruce Willis), whose estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) is among the hostages. Now, McClane must evade fire from the bad guys and gets little help from the local police as he mounts a daring one-man rescue mission. Slam-bang action hit also stars Alan Rickman, Reginald VelJohnson, Paul Gleason, William Atherton, Alexander Godunov. 132 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks English DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio, Dolby Digital Surround, French DTS 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles English (SDH), Spanish; audio commentary; featurette; theatrical trailer; TV spot; photo gallery; more. Two-disc set.

The 4K disc is a noticeable improvement over Blu-ray. I wasn’t expecting that much but there it is. The sound is still DTS 5.1, so there isn’t as big of leap there.
This was the best experience that I have had seeing this film. Color timing changes were great and audio was terrific. Excellent purchase!

Understand color timing concerns of other reviews. (I’m not sure I like 1989 Batman’s 4K disc - also from Warner - more than the older Blu-ray visually.) Though, I welcome the change for this film. (It seems more natural. E.g. cooler correction for overly warm.) The audio for the Blu-ray is 5-channel (but Dolby True HD and not DTS). On my sound system (with soundbar and its encoding), I do notice slight difference between the discs. Then, everyone has their own my setup.
