When I first saw ‘the Revenant’ on TV, I only saw part of it and wasn’t too impressed. But when I saw it on 4k UHD, I was blown away. It’s an experience for home theater for sure!

Man, I like this film!!! Lots of action… Surround is awesome… Fine grain on film… Cruise and Blunt give solid performances… Repeat and repeat. This story and film style might annoy some. But if you liked ‘Groundhog Day’, and like good action, then there’s a significant chance you’ll make through the film feeling rewarded.
For South Pacific seaplane skippers Kaz (Katrina Bowden) and Charlie (Aaron Jakubenko), their ferrying of a party of three to a beautiful atoll turned grim when they found grisly evidence of a shark attack. Their agreed-upon aerial search for survivors turned grimmer still when an accident left them in a life raft 100 miles from shore... with a pair of hungry predators circling. Fact-inspired frightener also stars Tim Kano, Kimie Tsukakoshi, Te Kohe Tuhaka, Tatjana Marjanovic. 100 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

Pleasing looking Blu-ray released by RLJE. As a fan of Jaws and shark movies, I found this one (Australian produced) to be enjoyable despite not expecting much. Forewarning, there’s some story details that aren’t all that believable, or even feasible (realistic). If you can look past it, and like shark movies in general, you might enjoy this also.

Love this film! It came to theaters back when I was in high school, and it brings good nostalgia. The film itself is packed with solid action and laughs. Fun ride! The CGI holds ‘decently’. I will say that where the Blu-ray is soft, so can the 4k be. However, it is a very good UHD and the best viewing experience. DTS:X is great also. Pleased to own!
Great news - Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is spending the holidays in New York City! Bad news - his parents are spending them in Florida! Separated once again from his family, Kevin manages to find food, lodging and fun using his dad's credit card. But his big-spending solo act takes a dangerous turn when the Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern), escape prison and also land in the Big Apple. Now, Kevin must outrun and out-prank them again in this high-flying adventure with twice the ingenuity, twice the kid power and twice the laughs as the original!

Movie a worthy sequel to the original. (Though, I have always slightly favor the first.) HA2 looks good on blu-ray. Nice coloring and film grain. Sounds fine... Also, there’s a short appearance of younger Donald J. Trump!

Bought this for $3.99. I wasn’t expecting much, but was intrigued by the Egyptian mythology. Don’t know if I learned anything here but saw some decent action sequences. Story is obviously fiction and it can feel pretty Hollywood. Picture and audio quality are both super. Probably not going to get the amount of likes as Snyder’s ‘300’ did. Still worthwhile watching.

My opinion was that this film is very average in terms of entertainment value. It seemed to me that there were more than nods to Carpenter’s THE THING. Probably a bit repetitive. CGI replaced practical effects and it is noticeable. Other than that audio and visuals are still rightfully high-def. Since it’s been out for a while, it couldn’t hurt to watch it first on cable or free stream before deciding to buy.

This movie is popular for Halloween personal favorites. I watched it as a child and can appreciate both the excitement from this time of year and humor though out (even the sprinkled adult humor). Some reviews that I’ve read commented on how dark (contrast) the movie or transfer is. I didn’t find this distracting on my normal tv setting and didn’t have to adjust the brightness. Soundtrack was fine. Surround was good but nothing outstanding. (Keep in mind that it’s not a new film.)

I do not own any copy from Scream Factory or Arrow (import). The only comparison that I have is Universal’s Blu-ray release. This 4K is a no-brainer upgrade. (I am one of those who picks and chooses.) It isn’t perfect… Some shots still look soft. But the experience overall is way, way better!

This is a very artful and well-crafted story, taking place at the cusp of the twentieth century, of a bitter rivalry between two nineteenth-century magicians who have their professional beginnings working together for the same act and coming into their own later on (even sabotaging each other’s shows). The story isn’t unveiled chronologically, but follows separate timelines loosely similar to ‘Momento’ (another Nolan film). (Though, rather than tattoos, there are diaries.) Emphasized is both an honor of devotion and the reality of personal obsession. Acting is terrific throughout with even (but not fast) pacing. I appreciate the reveal (prestige) of the film for the character motives and not the craftiness of the methods themselves. Technically (A/V), there is a noticeable difference in the 4K vs. Blu-ray. (I own a Samsung 65” TV.) At times, the 4K is very impressive in terms of sharpness and color. Though, maintaining a healthy filmic look, it’s still probably not what some would say “reference-quality” for picture. Sound isn’t either; though, I perceived a great difference in the DTS (4K) and the quieter LPCM (BR) tracks. Already owning a Blu-ray disc, obtaining the digital copy sealed the deal for my upgrade.
This was the best experience that I have had seeing this film. Color timing changes were great and audio was terrific. Excellent purchase!

Understand color timing concerns of other reviews. (I’m not sure I like 1989 Batman’s 4K disc - also from Warner - more than the older Blu-ray visually.) Though, I welcome the change for this film. (It seems more natural. E.g. cooler correction for overly warm.) The audio for the Blu-ray is 5-channel (but Dolby True HD and not DTS). On my sound system (with soundbar and its encoding), I do notice slight difference between the discs. Then, everyone has their own my setup.
