It's the Dark Souls/Bloodborne formula mixed with anime.
The game tends to be a bit easier since you have an NPC ally with you. They can revive you or at the very least help pull aggression away from you.
You can also switch 'classes' at any point, so you can vary your fighting style at any time without having to re-spec your character.
