Great movies, but discs defective over and over...

All of the films are great, HOWEVER, I bought and had to return this item 3 times due to the defective discs, mainly on Vertigo. I'm not sure if was the way it was packaged or what, but it's so disappointing to buy something over and over and have the same issues. Universal should be ashamed of this and make amends to anyone who had so many issues, as I did. Again, love the films, hate the way it has been defective so many times. Poorly done.

Harrowing, dramatic, brilliant

Shocking, disturbing, emotional, dramatic, sad, are words to describe this powerful film by Darren Aronofsky about the perils of drug abuse. Ellen Burstyn gives a memorable performance, and should have won the Oscar, in one of her best film roles. Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans add incredible support. Rough going at times, and harrowing, but a must see for anyone interested in serious filmmaking about a devastating topic. Simply brilliant. A MUST SEE!!

Set in 1954, Martin Scorsese's psychological thriller stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a U.S. marshal sent to investigate the disappearance of a patient from an asylum for the criminally insane located on an isolated island. But nothing is what it seems as DiCaprio finds himself embroiled in a labyrinthine mystery involving mind-control experiments, forcing him to wonder if he's really who he thinks he is. Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Mark Ruffalo, Patricia Clarkson also star. Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane. 137 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Two-disc set.

Creepy Mystery

Superb and creepy thriller from the great Martin Scorsese based on a book by Dennis Lehane. DiCaprio in top form, as a police investigator searching for a missing person on a creepy island prison facility. Brilliantly shot, acted, and edited, with great tension, it's a top notch thriller. Some may argue over the conclusion, but getting to the payoff is an amazing thrill ride and a treat. It's tension, nor jump out of your seats scared, mind you. But those are the best types of thrillers. Memorable

Sad sorry sequel, prayers for the next Bond due
on March 8, 2020

Biggest disappointment so far, and one of the worst Bond movies ever. Hard to imagine it was made by the same director as "Skyfall". Weal storyline, silly characters and villains, Bond revisiting plots and devices from the 60's era, UGH. One of the worst Bond woman EVER in a film played by the atrocious Lea Seydoux, so unappealing, and tired. Villains just talk, and talk, and talk, all boredom. Craig looks tired, and bored. Lots of action, but all so uninspired, it's unbelievable. One of the worst opening songs ever, and to think it won an Oscar, OMG. what a joke. Even the opening Mexico Cty scene, which they took forever to film, is mostly computer effects. So bad. Craig has said he was going to quit after this, I can see why. He's back later in 2020, and I hope/pray that for this, his 5th, and reportedly final outing, it's better than this garbage. I can't even watch this. Miserable.

One of the best ever....Craig best ABSOLUTELY

The finest of the Craig series, and one of the best Bond films EVER. Spectacular action, great acting, Craig again terrific, as is everyone else. great plot, direction, one of the best songs ever by Adele. An Oscar winner. British Secret Service under attack and Bond out to find the villain and reveal the plot. Intricate, and fascinating, so much stronger than last installment, and for new viewers, a few surprises in hand. A true classic. I can't speak highly enough about it except to say even if you're not a Bond fan, see this one...you may change your mind.

OK, lots of action, minimal plot

Craig reprises his role and it's supposed to be a continuation of "Casino Royale" but it lacks the punch of that film. Lots of action here, but almost too much and without any substantial plot to carry it along. Villains weak, Bond ladies, not appealing. Not an awful film but surely a disappointing after the first. Should have gone through a re-write or had a different director. Def not a standout. It's a shame, Craig is too good to be let down like this, by inferior filmmaking. Thankfully, they did improve, vastly...
and yes, I am a Bond fan hence why I recommend this one....but wait...

First from Craig, and almost the best!!

From 2006, and everyone was having a fit about Craig, as the new Bond. Well, he has redefined the series, and renewed it, and in the best way. The start of Bond's career, as he chases a banker/terror leader across Europe. Exciting and amazing action scenes, Craig terrific. Only weak link, Eva Green as the femme fatale, as she completely fails to bring much interest. When she wasn't on the screen, I was pleased. But Craig is a standout, the stunts great, the other actor awesome, Judi Dench brilliant as M. Although a winner, and a def recommend. What do I think is a CLASSIC of the Craig series. Check out "SKYFALL!!"

The original, silly and lame, but sometimes fun.

Original from 1978, not great, far from it, but has it's moments. Reeve fine as Superman, but too square for me, even though I know it's a comic book thingy. Gene Hackman is the best part as Lex Luthor, he's funny and brilliant, hardly even a villain. Supporting cast, nice. Some truly bad and cheesy special effects but again this is from 1978. Musical score by John Williams, awesome. So, it's up to you, I don't love it or hate it, it's fine for what it is. Although silly, I almost prefer it to the newer incarnation, as at least here, they had some real attempt at invention, and not just copycatting themselves. So, go see it.

Twisted, rather sick, stunningly performed.

A well done film, telling the story of Joker from the earlier days, pre Batman. Phoenix a standout in his Oscar winning role. Truly sick and twisted, so is this flick. Darkly and creepily shot, it has a gritty feeling to it, which enhances the entire production. I could have done with less of the Martin Scorsese film ripoffs (Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, especially) as those felt unnecessary, but this film stand on it's own. For me a better performance here as compared to Heath Ledger's job. Dark and moody, and somewhat disturbing, if this is your type of thing, I can def recommend it for those audiences.

Sad sequel

Burton again directs but this time, they entire project is a loss. Keaton back again, and he's still flat as Batman. Michael Gough as Alfred, is the standout, and the stupid villains played by the disgusting Danny DeVito, and the absolutely boring Michelle Pfeiffer as beyond lame. DeVito's Penguin is just a gross pig and awful to watch and Pfeiffer doing some sort of a Catwoman impersonation, makes me remember how much we all loved Julie Newmar on the campy 60's TV series. Visually proficient for sure, but long and tedious. Not a favorite of mine.
