Great Modern Remake
on August 25, 2019

Some who are fans of the original (myself included) will either love this remake or hate it. It's certainly a different take on the subject in many ways. Firstly, there's nothing subtle about the witches and their power - it's well established early on whereas the Argento version was more mysterious about what was going on and waited until the end to verify any suspicions. I think it's great to have such different takes of a classic genre film like this! There's no reason to choose one over the other.

Incredible

I would give this 10 stars if I could. Excellent acting and great conclusion to the massive Infinity War storyline. Obviously this is meant to be an end to a certain phase of the Marvel cinematic universe. Several major characters meet their demise and a few have new beginnings. Highly recommended as long as you've seen the previous Infinity War film.

Great Period Dark Comedy
on August 16, 2019

It's hard to peg a genre for this one. Part satire, part comedy, part drama. But what would one expect from the director that gave us The Lobster and The Killing of A Sacred Deer? This is his most "conventional" film yet and worth it for the set design, cinematography and acting.

Rushed Half Season.
on July 25, 2019

The last season of Gotham was unfortunately only half the usual episodes and many of the story lines seemed rushed as a result. Unfortunate. But, that being the case, they did a good job with what they had. Many were confused by the "10 years later" leap in the last episode. Too bad that couldn't have been eased into a bit. All in all a good season, especially if you're already a fan of the show and invested with the characters. It's worth it just to see the Penguin's final transition into the Penguin we all know and love. And the very lovely Lili Simmons (from Banshee) was brought in to portray the older Selina Kyle/Catwoman. We also witness the final step in the Joker's transformation.

Now working as a Lyft driver, former government agent Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) still finds time to put his expertise to use helping those who can't always help themselves. But he's about to embark on his most personal mission yet after an old friend and colleague is brutally murdered and McCall must not only track down the killer, but do it before he becomes the next target on the hit list. Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman, and Melissa Leo also star in director Antoine Fuqua's thrill-a-minute sequel. 121 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Two-disc set.

Excellent Sequel

Apparently the first time Denzel has ever reprised a role. I actually found this even better than the first film, with more background on the mysterious Robert McCall. Hoping Denzel will be enticed to do a third film!

Good Fantasy Escape

Those familiar with the C.S. Lewis books will already know what to expect. Lots of talking animals, a wicked Queen (excellently portrayed by Tilda Swinton), a faun (played by a young unknown James McAvoy) and some teens who embark on an adventure in a magical kingdom situated in it's own time and space.

It was 1969, and the lull at a once trendy hotel on the California/Nevada border ended with a rush of clientele including an aging priest (Jeff Bridges), a vacuum salesman (Jon Hamm), a drifter (Dakota Johnson), and a soul singer (Cynthia Erivo). However, agendas and identities aren't all what they seem... and between a hunt for hidden bank loot and cultists arriving at the door, no one should expect a good night's rest. Stylish contemporary noir co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Lewis Pullman, Cailee Spaeny.

Jeff Bridges Rocks!
on June 26, 2019

Great noir film set in 1969 at a run down hotel near Lake Tahoe where all the guests have dangerous secrets. This is reminiscent of a Tarantino flick without the over the top cartoony violence of Kill Bill. Plot twists should hold your interest and Jeff Bridges is as good as we expect him to be.

Better Than Expected

I am giving it 5 stars mainly because of the stellar SFX. The story isn't bad and yes, some of the dialog is absolutely silly (an ongoing flaw in many of the DC movies). It's obviously a popcorn movie so don't expect the substance of a Bergman film. lol

Great Addition to Conjuring Universe

I was pleased with how well this was done. Not sure they can get as much mileage out of the Nun character as they have with Annabelle. Well worth checking out, especially if you're already invested in the franchise.

Story of a relationship between a young tribe member and a wild wolf that become friends as he tries to make his way back to his tribe. Kind of Disneyesque.
