You can't go wrong with Sandisc. This one is USB 3, it's great if you need faster transfer rate. If you want to save a buck look for the USB 2, slower transfer but still a great product. I wait for them to go on sale at Best Buy and cost less than most on-line stores.

I want to scan negatives and slides to my computer to then use Microsoft paint to coordinate, draw on etc., is that possible with tis model?
Yes, You can scan negative and slides to your computer. You can scan to jpeg and tiff. Once the images are digital they should work well in your program. We use photoshop when needed. The scanner comes with everything you need to get a beautiful image from your slides.
