Matt Damon and Ben Affleck put together such a great script, and Van Sant makes such a compelling, emotional character study from it all! It’s also got so many wonderful quotes. The Blu-Ray is in terrific shape, plays well.

Well, after YEARS of delay, Matt Reeves’ The Batman is finally here…and boy, was it worth the wait! Rob proves himself to be up for the challenge, although I would like to see more from him as Bruce Wayne. The suit is more flexible, making for better fight scenes, and Colin Firth is unrecognizable as The Penguin. Zoe Kravitz is the best live-action Catwoman/Selina Kyle (including Pfeiffer). And Paul Dano is terrifying as the Riddler. Should be rated R considering how brutal it is, not to mention the horror tone. Sure, the movie could’ve lost 1/2 an hour, but that’s my biggest complaint. In some ways, it’s better than Nolan’s movies because we see the Detective side of Batman as well as the vigilante. The home release comes with 2 HOURS of special features, and they are worth your time. Also, get your hands on the steelbook, if you can; it’s perfect for Bat-fans like me, and a great collectors item.

Amazing Experience, Compelling (and empty) Story

First off, it’s great to see Norse mythology and warfare in its rawest form, and the performances, fight scenes, and cinematography are outstanding. Some characters feel like they are sidelined here, and when all is said and done, The Northman is predictable as another Viking revenge tale, despite striking visuals, great performances, and even a couple of twists. It should be experienced in theaters (or if you missed it there, on the biggest screen with the best sound available to you). Unfortunately, reflecting on it, I can’t help but feel that the story left me feeling strangely empty.

After playing this game for just a few hours, it’s amazing how much it won me over. Even though I’m not the biggest FPS genre fan, I do love time loop concepts done well. That’s one reason that failure can be so frustrating, and success even sweeter. But the real perk here, of course, is the character Julianna, who talks in your ear constantly, or just pops up sporadically to kill you. The different lethal takedowns (including stealth) allow for some variety, mixing up combat just enough. The graphics are gorgeous, too, and while the open-world here is limited, it’s still fun to explore. However, I wonder if I’m the only one who feels as if the creators made the challenge TOO easy.

Superb 4K Remaster for Shyamalan’s Masterpiece!

There are a handful of truly good-to-great Shyamalan films. Even the first half of The Village is also quite beautiful. The Sixth Sense is widely regarded as the director’s best, but I am not alone in believing that Unbreakable is his masterpiece! Sure, the pace is slow, but the unconventional approach to the superhero origins story, lead by Sam Jackson and Bruce Willis, and James Newton Howard’s score all combine for an engrossing, rewarding experience. This is one of the most colorful movies I’ve ever seen, and now we finally get a 4K remaster that makes it look even better!

First off, the John Wick movies are quite solid, entertaining action movies with a unique combat style, and a fantastic variety of stunts and fight scenes. This limited edition steelbook is incredible. Maybe it’s just the copy I received, but 2 out of the 3 movies froze up during playback. I wonder if anyone else experienced this problem?

James Bond, on horses

This is one of my favorite movies, not only because of the re-watch value, but simply because it's SO MUCH FUN! Almost every scene has you smiling, but there is some great drama that is organically incorporated into the narrative as well. Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, and Catherine Zeta-Jones all have terrific chemistry together and each of them brings something to the table. There's lots of swashbuckling action, Raiders of the Lost Ark-style chases, and the classic Bond tropes (amazing stunts, fights, a beautiful girl, an EVIL villain with an over-the-top plan, etc.). Recommend this to anyone, and the 4K/Bluray remasters make the experience that much better.

John Wick 2.0...but that's just fine!

In case you didn't know, this movie is from the writer of John Wick, so it should come as a surprise to no one how many beats from that franchise this straight-up borrows. A guy with a certain set of skills who retires from his criminal life, then is brought back, and kicks a WHOLE LOT MORE BUTT!!! It's only 90 minutes, and if you love John Wick or Die Hard, etc., you'll most likely love this. Connie Nielsen as the wife is underdeveloped, but it's still a great time, and Christopher Lloyd as Odenkirk's dad is the icing on the cake. The soundtrack is a highlight, and compliments the movie really well, making it very funny. The Bluray works well and is worth the price, if you want some extra features showing more behind-the-scenes material, and also a great picture quality.
