First off this sound bar is not worth $1700. It is worth the $750. that I paid as an open box. The biggest issue with this bar is that you do not have enough control over the volume for the bass and especially the rear surround speakers. This bar shines when playing movies in HDR and Atmos. It shines when you play music through bluetooth. It really does a great job at the aforementioned which is why I kept mine. The not so good is when watching regular TV(i have Fios) it is just okay... there is a drop off in sound quality and you just don't have the options to adjust to your liking all the time. That being said I do understand the drop off in quality is do to the broadcasting stations but for $1700. At least give me enough control over bass and treble and my rears to put up a good fight at tuning to my liking. Finally this bar when playing quality content sounds incredible and it gets loud... I just wish it sounded so good at all times!

Originally I didn't think that a power conditioner would make a difference but im telling you they do. For example before the conditioner if I cranked up my receiver the lights would intermittently dim. After the conditioner no more dimming because the power had been cleaned and balanced out! If you have blue lights on your receiver and subwoofer like I do then the blue from this Panamax blends right in for that extra cool factor.

Awesome Towers

Ok so first lets talk about the appearance...these towers look a bit boxy at the top. The led D on the bottom of the speakers are a nice touch and I love the octagonish shape of the speaker base.
Now the sound. These speakers are powerful and definitely need to be tuned for that perfect sound that these babies can deliver. One very important accomplishment of these towers are that they can produce accurate bass at low volume. Many speakers just cannot do this. Def Tech does it with ease! The highs deliver without ear fatigue for such big powerful speakers. When you turn the volume up really loud the Def Tech give you controlled increase to where you dont get distortion and the bass doesn't get sloppy... it stays tight but it does rattle anything not tied down like you wouldnt believe.
Atmos is only okay... not because of Def Tech but because it just needs to be developed more or you need to just get proper in ceiling speakers... or maybe I was just expecting more. Dont get me wrong they do work! I just find myself wanting to hear more from the atmos toppers.
Quick sidebar... if you're not using a power conditioner (panamax) you need to... it makes a difference! B4 I used one I could see my lights flicker when I blasted the volume and my SC-95 would occasionally shut down.... not anymore!
With these towers I feel like I'm good for the next fifty years!
Now i gotta sell my like new 8060's towers and center channel!

Hello, Currently looking at this 9080 line but with no previous experience in home audio world I was looking for any suggesting regarding which receiver you guys would recommend with theses speakers? Also is receiver all needed or receiver plus amp?
If you have the BP9080ST's then you would want to get a higher end receiver that pushes out at least 125 or higher per channel. You can go with a small less powerful amp but you wouldn't be doing these towers any justice!
If you get a high end receiver you do not need to get external amplification.... remember these towers have built in amplifiers already in them.
