A fresh perspective on the Joker and superhero films in general.
Giving the character a certain amount of sympathy is against the norm in most comics movies today but this film shows many guilty of horrible acts were first victims of the same treatment. It doesn’t forgive their actions but you can see how they got there.
Yes this movie outright steals from King of Comedy and Taxi Driver but it comes off more as tribute than theft.
