Yes it's rechargeable, it has a built-in lithium-ion battery and does not need to be plugged in in order to work.

What does it mean with Apple silicon on this keyboard..
It means that the full function of the keyboard only works with Apple Silicon macs. I just bought it, connected it to my 2017 Intel MacBook Pro, and the keyboard works great. The only function of the keyboard that doesn't work with non-Apple Silicon macs is the Touch ID built into the keyboard.
