I used to Have an LG soundbar which wasn't the best and upgraded to the previous Vizio one and I loved it. Then I heard this one was coming in and I pre-ordered it as soon as It was available. I've been using it since day one of the launch and I have to say. It is definitely a big upgrade over the previous Vizio I had (which I also loved)
It literally takes 5 minutes to setup with my XBOX one X and Sony TV and another 5 minutes to sync the app to the soundbar and tune it to your liking. I was skeptical about the autorotation of the height speakers but after using it all this time I have to say that is one of the best features of this soundbar. When the height speakers are firing forward with normal 5.1 contend it definitely adds clarity and the voices sound crystal clear. When ypu play Atmos contend they auto rotate and you can definitely tell the difference between normal 5.1 and atmos contend.
Out the box the sound it not bad but I do recommend changing some settings here and there. First of all, make sure to download the app. It's 100x better than the remote.
Out the box the rotating speakers are set to up position only. I recommend changing that to auto.
For regular contend (not atmos) I recommend using the Movie EQ. When you use the Movie EQ on atmos contend you might hear some crackling or static on the height speakers so I don't recommend Movie EQ for any atmos contend.
For Atmos contend I recommend using the Direct EQ. Sometimes I forget and I leave it on Direct EQ for all contend and it still sounds great.
XXX Do Not set the surround sound to DUAL just leave it set to ON. It makes the sound from the rear speakers the same as the front speakers making you lose a lof of the details on what you are watching. Dual works for music because you hear it from all the speakers but for everything else you just lose all detail and immersion.
The subwoofer hits loud and hard so depending on your preference I would adjust it accordingly. I don't like overpowering bass that may drown out detail but I like it when it hits hard. I have it on -1 for the Subwoofer but +2 on the bass.
Any other setting apart from setting it to auto on the rotating speakers and using Movie EQ for regular content, Direct EQ for Atmos and leaving the Surround to ON is up to your preference. One thing is for sure. You will love the experience you get from this soundbar.

Has potential. Interface is horrendously buggy. The remote takes several attempts before it’ll recognize a function. The Elevate looks amazing, but the system is just too frustrating to make it worth dealing with. Vizio products have always been innovative, but they just can’t get the basics and simplicity down. FYI I updated to the latest firmware. I’m a professional installer and have a lot of experience with audio/video equipment, and this is just trash.

I upgraded from the previos version of the vizio armos soundbar. This one is totally worth the upgrade and I had it setup in maybe 5 miutes tops. Maybe you have interference or doing something wrong. Maybe you should try a different job if you can't get it working under 5 mins being an "installer" or there is the possibility that you got a defective unit, again, I'm loving how clear the voices are and when the sub hit, it hits loud and hard.

Well....... I was optimistic and excited. I felt like I was giving a bad relationship a 3rd go around. Wifi connection issues ✔ auto sync issues ✔ popping and static noise ✔ Hdmi handshake still buggy, sound randomly goes out and then comes back in after about 45 seconds .
It does really sound good when it works. Bass is great and voice is a lot better than previous models. I will give it over the weekend to see if Vizio tech support has any other work around besides Power cycle and change hdmi which I have done. Move from a Nakamichi shockwafe no issues.

You may have interference

Wifi connectivity, auto sync issues and some static are classic signs of interference. Try changing to a different wifi band or maybe there is something in the room creating interference with the soundbar. Crackling sounds from the height speakers can also be caused by having the wrong settings ON. Like having the Movie EQ while trying to play Atmos content. Movie EQ is for surround 5.1 not Atmos so it messes up with the height speakers. Atmos content should be played on the Direct EQ. The sound going out for a few seconds is something I've never experienced in any of the vizio soundbars I've used over the past 6 years. So can't help you there. Defective unit perhaps.
Personally I've had no issues with any of my Vizio soundbars and this one has been working great since day one and it is far superior to my Sony soundbar, my LG soundbar for gaming and my panasonic home theater system on my living room so I'm thinking of getting rid of that one and getting another Vizio Elevate.

The bad: The cracking. I’ve had the sound bar for about 4 hours and it’s already driving me insane. Every time I change the channel, loud crack. Switch to Netflix, loud crack. Turn tv off, loud crack. Honestly, this alone is probably going to force me to return it. My old sound bar that cost half what this cost never cracked from the rear speakers.
Twice in a 4 hour period I noticed the sound bar wouldn’t turn off when I turned off the tv (connected via earc). The only fix was to unplug the sound bar. Again, my old sound bar worked perfectly over arc and never once required a restart, let alone 2 in a few hours.
I’ll wait to see if there’s new firmware but at this point I don’t plan on keeping the bar. The sound is better than my old bar, but for the price I’m not willing to put up with the cracking or need to unplug constantly. Overall, very disappointed.

Did you try to connect directly using passthrough or using only the soundbar.
Did you try different HDMI cables.

Someone else may have your exact setup that managed to fix it or may not get it if they have your same setup.
Did you try checking for any interference as that can also create crackling sounds.
Any and all information helps determine the possible cause of the issue. Just saying. I had an issue that I managed to fix the next day and all you said was that you used it for 4 hours and decided to return it.

I had high hopes for this soundbar but it just falls short on audio performance. The speakers sound very tinny and the subwoofer is just not good. The frequency of the subwoofer is too high so you can very clearly discern where the sound is coming from, I think it is just not big/strong enough. When people are talking you hear half the voice from the center channel and the low frequencies clearly are coming from the direction of the subwoofer.
I ended up returning it and going with the Samsung Q950T, it is definitely more expensive but WOW! The difference is night and day, it was almost painful to listen to the vizio elevate but the sound out of the Samsung Q950T is simply incredible in comparison.
I have an old vizio $250 5.1 Soundbar on my other TV that sounds better than this one so I'm not sure what went wrong here.
Don't bother with this soundbar as it just isn't up to par on sound quality.

I've owned sondbars and theater systems anywhere from LG to Sony, Panasonic and Vizio. It sounds like you didn't have it setup correctly because I got this Soundbar on day one of release and have been using it since with zero issues and totally in love with it. I always had issues with previous theater systems and soundbars where the sub/bass would drown out the voices. The Vizio Elevate doesn't have that issue, the voices are crystal clear and the sub when it hits, it adds to the experience without drowning out voices or effects. It sounds good on everything that you throw at it, music, games, normal TV, movies. Everything just sounds great.

Is this tv able to transfer 7.1 uncompressed signal through earc to a sound bar? I was reading online that it may not be able too
I have the TV paired up with the top of the line Q990B and it's been nothing but problems when connecting to a console or Blu-ray. There is no sound from the center channel when trying to play 7.1 signal. You are forced to switch to stereo to have a center channel. I totally regret getting this TV because it's been nothing but issues with sound and even playing some Blu-rays. My old Sony/vizio Elevate system had zero issues. The picture is definitely like no other but there are so many connectivity issues that it's crazy.

I was specifically asking the question about the SB90 if that lost the TV speakers if you plug in a sound bar ? Supposedly part of the atmos surround sound system is to include the TV with the bar they show a picture of all the sound Radiating from both.
I have the Q990B which is supposed to work directly with this TV but let me tell you. Half the time the function doesn't work or has issues plus if you connect a Blu-ray player or console it will not work. That function only works, when it works, while using the TV.

Hi, I am debating whether to buy this system or the other VIZIO - 5.1.4-Channel Soundbar System with 10" Wireless Subwoofer and Dolby Atmos. Both are the same price but this one has the 8" woofer, the other has a 10" woofer. which woofer would be better.
The vizio Elevate definitely sounds better than the previous model. Voices and clear and even with it being a smaller sub, it hit loud and hard. Definitely and improvement over the previous model

Three HDMI ports connect two 4K devices to the TV with eARC making setup clean and simple.
I have a Vizio P75-F1 television. It has ARC but I don't think it's eARC. Is it possible to get Atmos with this setup? I'm thinking many others are in the same boat of having ARC but not eARC.
I only have HDMI ARC on my tv but I use an Xbox one X which suppors Atmos. So I have my Soundbar connected to my Xbox and have no issues playing Atmos content even though my TV only has HDMI ARC.
As long as the receiver, in my case the xbox one X, could be a Bluray player or PlayStation supports Atmos, it doesn't matter if the TV is Atmos capable or not.

When I connect Xbox One X directly to the Elevate soundbar, the Xbox reports the soundbar does not support Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and PCM 5.1/7.1. Only DTS Surround and Dolby Digital are supported.

Do you need the rear surround speakers hooked up for Atmos to function properly? My setup may require me to only have the main soundbar accessible.

Is anybody else having trouble turning off the soundbar after about an hour and a half of use? I tried turning it off with the controller and manually but nothing.

Will this be compatible in Dolby Atmos with the new Xbox Series X?
Yes.
I have it setup with my Xbox one X and it works flawlessly so I'm pretty sure it will work the same or even better with the new Series X with Dolby atmos. The up firing speakers are set to fire upwards by default but I recommend changing that to "Auto" that will auto rotate the speakers up or down depending on what content you are watching.
