Very underrated and overlooked film. This is Bowies' first major film role. The acting and visual style is exceptional (although go in it expecting more Ziggy Stardust than Bowie in terms of character). If you are into scifi drama, take the risk and watch it. For being made in the 70s, this movie holds up fairly well in terms of effects and story/ plot. Captivating, really.

I was skeptical going in. Nic Cage has become a meme, and I have enjoyed his over-the-top movies, action flicks, and his more serious roles (I feel we forget he won an Academy Award). But this movie is self-ego-stroking greatness. It is self-aware, roo, and Cage isn't afraid to admit then face the highs and lows of his career. If you are a fan of Cage being Cage, action, and self-depricarion with a touch of witty whimsy, you will love this.

Not so Doom

So much fun, and such a guilty pleasure. This film is loosely based on the source material. More like Resident Evil in space, but Karl Urban is a beqst, and The Rock is cranked to 11. The movie is dark, in shadow a lot so the action can be hard to see. The audio is not mixed well but still worth a watch.

(Non-Killer) Popcorn Flick

This film should not only be a Halloween staple, but enjoyed yearly. Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a great film, in the most absurd sense possible. By great, I don't mean on par with Citizen Kane, The Shawshank Redemption, Gladiator, and so on. I mean ridiculously great. This movie is fully self-aware of its premise and target audience. For those who enjoy film's that don't take them selves too seriously, and having fun doing so, please WATCH THIS! Full disclosure, I'm not a fan of the cover art, though because tonally, it doesn't fit the movie. While the Klowns and Killers, they are very much goofy, both in design and characteristics. They are far from Pennywise and Art the Clown (from The Terrifier). This is meant to make laugh, not scream in fright.
