Water goes into the washer! The hoses do their job. Have had the washer a month and got the hoses at the same time. Work just fine, not much more you can say about hoses.

Samsung's Activewash Top Load Washer with 5.2 cu. ft. capacity allows for larger loads so you can spend less time doing laundry. The built-in sink lets you pretreat and presoak your clothes with ease, while Steam Wash uses the power of steam to help remove stains. With Vibration Reduction Technology, wash loads stay balanced and quiet even at high speeds..

I purchased this washer a month ago and am very pleased. My teenager does his own laundry so he, my husband and myself use it for a variety of different loads. It does a great job on all of them. The only con is that I am short and it has a deep basket so we had to purchased a small stepstool in order for me to reach the bottom of the basket.

Does this come with a drain pan? I am installing on the second floor of a house, does it need a drain pan to prevent damage in cadence of a leak?

I am in a house so never considered a drain pan. We have been in our house for over 25 years and never needed one. As long as your hoses are secure you should be good. Also, if you stay there 4-5 years, you might want to check hoses to make sure they haven't gotten thin and so could leak from the side of the hoses.

I was told by a Samsung mechanic , After 5 years they dont make parts for these machines. I bought mine about 5 years ago and rusting inside and cant get a part. Told me to get a different one.

I don't know about Washers but for my fridge I needed the trim that goes around the doors. I went to the Samsung website and ordered it without any problem and my fridge is close to 10 years of age.
