Beautiful 4K transfer, fantastic audio track, though it is unfortunate that the streaming version on HBO Max includes Dolby Vision grading but the disc didn't get it. The bitrate on this disc hits some pretty high numbers, so it would have been fantastic to get an uncompressed picture with Dolby Vision, but perhaps Warner Bros will be looking to re-issue this movie with Dolby Vision and a digital code once the HBO Max exclusive streaming window ends/expires (if ever?). Still a great purchase and well worth a view for those who enjoy 4K physical media.

What separates this player from LG and Sony's offerings is the HDR tone mapping (known as HDR Optimizer) this player performs. In effect, the player tries to adjust its output depending on how the disc you are watching has been mastered, to ensure that the dynamic range remains within the boundaries of what your particular TV can actually display. This results in less blown out details on discs coded with nit ranges beyond your TV (think Mad Max: Fury Road) and a picture that's more palatable for most. It's pricey for sure, but if you watch a lot of HDR10 content it may be well worth the investment. Keep an eye out for open box deals, as that may be the best path forward if you want to enjoy this player's advanced features without totally breaking the bank. Beyond that, this player supports Dolby Vision (the holy grail of HDR picture quality today) and every major audio standard you can think of. Definitely a premium feeling machine, even though the software interface does look/feel a bit dated now in 2021.

Thank God Apple offers lossless, high-fidelity audio options. I have long been confused as to why, in the age of 5G cellular reception and gigabit home internet, most music streamers still utilize compressed MP3s as their 'masters.' It was refreshing to revisit Apple's music streaming service (now dubbed Apple Music) and finding that they're utilizing high bit rate, lossless masters and even providing Dolby Atmos (branded as "spatial audio"). These are features I would have expected to get the mainstream push a few years back, but at least we've gotten there. I'm new to iOS on my daily driver (been a longtime Sony+Android user) but I'm getting used to the Apple Music interface and enjoying it more with each day. Definitely going to have to consider subscribing once the trial ends :)

Apple is doing with print media what it previously did with music - leveraging technologies that are already available in various forms to collect and present content in a way that's more intuitive, easy-to-use and cost-effective than the smattering of multiple subscriptions or one-off issue purchases we are all used to. I love the interface, find it to provide the right mix of curated selections vs letting me enjoy what I already know I will like. I have access to way more magazines than I would have expected (especially specialized interest titles like PC Magazine) and the newspaper selection seems to be growing. I am already hooked and don't know how I'll resist continuing beyond the free trial LOL

A small upgrade from an S20 FE, but definitely feels more premium/flagship. Super fast charging is not a gimmick! This charger genuinely charges your phone faster than many chargers you may already have sitting in your home from previous phone purchases. Not saying you have to buy a Samsung branded charger, but this one is great because it supports USB PD 3.0 and seems to supply the advertised 25W since the animations of the phone while connected with this charger (and a Samsung branded fast charging USB-C cable) suggest it's charging at the fastest speed it possibly can. Totally satisfied with this purchase (though, admittedly, it would be great if phone manufacturers like Samsung would bundle it with their flagship phones)

Strong hardware + UX-focus = streaming heaven

The Apple TV 4K is a phenomenal over-the-top (OTT) media streaming device. Though many will say all streamers are the same, the fact of the matter is the ATV4K's hardware far exceeds the speed and UX of every competitor, save possibly the nVidia Shield Pro. I own the Chromecast Ultra, Roku Premiere and Firestick 4K, but none of them have the snappy response and sheer power to keep up with this device. Moreover, it supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and, when connected to Movies Anywhere, will allow you to unlock iTunes Extras on your movie library (amazing feature that mimics the menu structure of physical discs to allow you to explore bonus content on movies like behind the scenes featurettes or making-of content). I have purchased three of these so far and will continue to do so until Apple demonstrably upgrades the hardware (the ATV4K 2021 has, more or less, the same SOC as this unit). If anything, buy the new Siri Remote and pair it with one of these for the best of both worlds.

Switched from a Samsung Galaxy S9 and as much as it pains me to say it, there have been no issues whatsoever transitioning over to the land of the forbidden fruit. In fact, the device itself exudes signs of phenomenal build quality and I can already feel a sense of pride of ownership. The size is right (same as the regular iPhone) and the features are even better (shares the same feature set as the Pro Max). All in all, this is a best of both worlds scenario where you have a phone that will fit in your hand with ease while giving you the power you crave. I imagine this will last me some time, as it's very snappy, has tremendous battery life from all I've read/seen and should continue to enjoy iOS updates for some time (based on Apple's history of post-sales support).
