HP is no longer a good choice!

I've been a long time user of HP printers (at least 10 years). I have purchased at least 12 in that time. Now that the cartridge dictates to you when it needs to be replaced (even though it is still a usable cartridge), I will look for other brands. The quality of the HP printers have dropped so dramatically that they are just not worth the money. The last three HP printers I've had go into "maintenance mode" every time I try to print. They also start fading the print (going from dark ink to a faint, unreadable shade). After spending hours wasting ink on "align printheads" and "print test page" you end up spending even more time trying to get help online or by phone from HP. They have you run all the same troubleshooting tests! IF you get one good test print then HP support is ready to hang up. A few days later you get a message from your printer that says your warranty has expired!
As for me, I am already looking for a better brand of printer!!!!

HP printers have really gone down in quality

This CD Boombox was the smallest available at my local Best Buy. It works fine, just bigger than what I really needed.

The XL cartridges print up to 815 pages - how many pages do these cartridges, which are not XL, print?
From my experience the non "XL" cartridges print about 300-400 pages. However, if the expiration date runs out, they will stop working. You will get a message to replace them with original HP cartridges. HP printers REALLY HATE generic or refilled ink cartridges. If you attempt to get help through the HP chat or phone service, be prepared to provide the numbers and expiration dates on your ink cartridges!
