I have been a fan of transformers since childhood in the 80's, and while I enjoyed the film series I always hated the "look" of the characters. Granted I understand they won't look exactly like they did in comics and toy form, but within the first five minutes of this film I was happy they finally got some of them right.
As for the film itself, without any spoilers it was fun. It's set in the 80's so you can't go wrong with that. And the story was okay. It is probably one of the better transformer films so far.

Not bad plot wise but butchered origins

Yes, going in be well aware this is not the traditional venom origin story. For whatever reasons they chose to alter his origin completely. All that being said, the movie was enjoyable and Tom Hardy does a good job of entertaining. The effects were decent through most of the film, the final battle left a little to be desired but otherwise a decent action flick.

It's now 2019 and despite being alive way back when I had never actually seen this. I was only familiar with the song. I finally broke down and got it and I have to admit despite being kind of cheesy and a product of its time it was actually a decent movie. I doubt it's much like the comic strip origin or the old movie serials but there are far worse superhero / adventure films out there.

Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven, which brought him Oscars for both Best Picture and Best Director, comes to DVD with a fantastic 2.35:1 widescreen anamorphic transfer. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while a French soundtrack has been mixed in Dolby Digital Surround. English, Spanish, and French subtitles can be accessed. Sadly, the only supplemental materials are production notes. Considering this is a modern classic, one might hope that Warner Bros. and/or Eastwood might have offered more insight into its making. Still, the picture and sound are as good as one could hope for, making this a fine DVD for any collection.

I enjoy modern westerns and am a fan of Clint Eastwood but I had never actually seen this film until this year (2019). I had heard for the longest time it was the great epic. Honestly, I was not impressed. It was ok, but I've seen much better from both Eastwood and other westerns.
