Various Positions is the seventh studio album by Leonard Cohen, released in December 1984 (and February 1985). It marked not only his turn to the modern sound and use of synthesizers (particularly on the opening track), but also, after the harmonies and backing vocals from Jennifer Warnes on the previous Recent Songs (1979), an even greater contribution from Warnes, who is credited equally to Cohen as vocalist on all of the tracks. - The album was recorded at Quadrasonic Sound in New York in the summer of 1983 with Leanne Ungar engineering. A small core of musicians from a group called Slow Train backed Cohen on the album. This 2x45 RPM Mobile Fidelity issue is the best I think you will ever hear this album, which has long been a favorite of mine. It is short, so you will have to flip sides every 2 or 3 songs. But the improved sound quality is worth the effort IMO. Long live vinyl!

Triple vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered edition. Decade is a compilation by Neil Young, originally released in 1977 as a triple album. It contains 35 of Young's songs recorded between 1966 and 1976, among them five tracks that had been unreleased up to that point. It peaked at #43 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, and was certified platinum by the RIAA in 1986. Compiled by Young himself, with his hand-written liner notes about each track, Decade represents almost every album from his career and various affiliations through 1977 with the exception of Four Way Street and Time Fades Away. Of the previously unreleased songs, InchDown to the WireInch features the New Orleans pianist Dr. John with Buffalo Springfield on an item from their shelved Stampede album; InchLove Is a RoseInch was a minor hit for Linda Ronstadt in 1975; InchWinterlongInch received a cover by Pixies on the Neil Young tribute album from 1989, The Bridge; and InchCampaignerInch is a Young song critical of Richard Nixon. The track InchLong May You RunInch is a different mix to that found on the album of the same name, featuring the harmonies of the full Crosby Stills & Nash before David Crosby and Graham Nash left the recording sessions.
