Long before Rat Race, director Stanley Kramer put together a cast of notable comic talents and sent them on a madcap chase around the country looking for lost loot. Now, MGM has seen fit to release It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World in a solid DVD package that's sure to satisfy fans of the film. The picture is presented in a 16 x 9 widescreen transfer. As this is an older film, the print has a bit of wear and tear, though nothing to get upset over. It's certainly better than most VHS editions. Sound is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and is a worthy treatment, though nothing earth-shaking. Extras include a lengthy documentary on the making of the film, a truckload of extended scenes, and a pair of trailers. With such a fine cast, many of whom are still living, a commentary track would have been welcome. However, even without it, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is offered in a fine DVD edition and is certainly worth owning.

A pregnant girl trapped in a woman's health clinic makes a disturbing discovery about the child growing inside of her while attempting to fight off her father and three heavily-armed brothers in director John Carpenters second Masters of Horror episode. A young couple is driving down a darkened country road when frightened Angelique (Caitlin Wachs) darts frantically into their headlights. Realizing that the young girl is terrified beyond consolation and shaken by the near accident she caused, the kindly couple informs Angelique that they are currently en route to a nearby clinic and would be happy to give her a ride. Shortly after arriving at the clinic with their young charge, however, Angelique's enraged father Dwayne (Ron Perlman) arrives with two sons in tow and enough firepower to stage a small war. Staunch anti-abortion activist Dwayne is determined to liberate his daughter from the evil clinic in which she has sought sanctuary, but as he prepares to storm the building Angelique makes a horrifying discovery about her unborn child. Anchor Bay has packed this release with featurettes, audio commentary with the writers and director John Carpenter, still and storyboard galleries, and a DVD-ROM version of the screenplay. The episode's presentation features an anamorphic 1.78:1 widescreen picture with a 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track.
