Apple TV+ is starting to amass a good collection of entertaining shows like Ted Lasso, Shrinking, For All Mankind, etc. This is a great way to try out the content and see if it’s for you. Also, their shows appear to all have the highest streaming video quality out there. I’m not sure if it’s compression, cameras, their servers, or what, but every show of theirs is crystal clear 4K UHD. Worth checking out!

Christoph Waltz puts on the performance of a lifetime. The opening scene is dripping with tension and it just continues with that tension throughout the film. There are many laugh-out-loud moments to cut through the nail-biting and there are several punctuated moments of extreme violencen that will shock you. Fantastic film. One of Tarantino’s best.

I’m surprised I didn’t hear more about this film when it was first released. There’s a lot to enjoy here and it is quite a spectacle on a big screen in 4K UHD. Alexander Skarsgard delivers a stellar performance as the lead. There were a few characters I felt were miscast, but he was perfect for the role. Be aware that a lot of this film takes place in the dark, and even in 4K UHD Dolby Vision, it is sometimes hard to tell what is going on.

This is an incredible film. For me, it was the top film of 2022. However, you need to give it time to blossom into form. I know someone who told me they stopped watching after twenty minutes and I had to explain to them that you are not supposed to have a full grasp on what is going on right away. Once it finally clicks, you’re in for a wild and highly enjoyable ride!

A Darker, Grittier Batman Entry

Save for the animated films, which are absolutely worth watching, this is easily the grittiest Batman portrayal in a movie so far. I only wish they kept to a more realistic/believable approach throughout the film, but there are some moments that are so silly it kind of took me out of the immersion. Also the emo look of Batman was a bit much when paired with what I felt was an out-of-place Nirvana track.

It is so hard to find a reputable brand that makes cases these days and this is one of them. The design is great for an iPad Air 4 but my one want is that the divots for the little tabs to insert for propping up the iPad were a bit deeper so the iPad wasn’t as prone to slipping out and falling flat. This happens a LOT with this case. Otherwise it’s a pretty slim, form-fitting case that covers up the not-often-used iPad camera. This is a good option from a brand that’s been making cases for Apple devices for a long time.

Where’s the horror?

This is easily the most linear and action-oriented Resident Evil game to date, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Playing on normal difficulty, I had over a HUNDRED bullets at one point for the handgun despite being fairly liberal with its use. That is because this is straight up a FPS action game with a horror theme. They just threw all the survival-horror elements out the door with this one. The extent of the puzzle-solving is seeing an item through a crack in a wall and having to break a box to crawl through a vent to get to it, and the “secret” path is ON THE MAP. I really don’t get the hype for Dimitrescu either. She is only in a small portion of the game. After finishing, it seems like they originally intended to make a different kind of game and then had to wrap things up quickly to meet a deadline. There is nothing next-gen about the graphics, the story is laughable (like seriously you will laugh at how ridiculous things get at multiple points), and there is more or less one path you have to take at all times due to key items guiding progress.

Much Larger Than I Expected

Great to have a decent battery-powered option for a doorbell and Google Home is pretty simple to integrate with. However, because this needs a battery it is HUGE. Much bigger than the size of the wired doorbell. It also needs charging every couple of weeks depending on how busy the area it monitors is. It would be nice if a.) it came with a charger (it comes with a cable) and b.) the charging port was on the side instead of on the back. Also, despite the instructions being fairly clear, I couldn’t quite tell when the doorbell clicked into place on the mount. It doesn’t have a very satisfying/clear click when it’s secure. This led to it falling off on one occasion, so be careful it’s actually secure. I’m having an issue where I get two phone notifications every time it sees a person at the door instead of just one notification. Overall it’s still a solid option for a battery doorbell and Google Home is hard to beat for simplicity.
