I don't even know where to begin with this game. I played the original and almost all of them along the way but this just blows them all out of the water. This game is so customizable and fun without demanding anything from you that you can't help but want to put more and more time in. The mrs. never plays video games and thought it was a joke that a bunch of 30 something guys were trading fruit and visiting each other until I made her try it out... now we fight for screen time. If you like any of the earlier titles or anything in this genre, get this.

It helps to have some familiarity with The Witcher franchise before jumping in to the 3rd game. For people that are coming to this title after watching the TV series, go watch a video that catches you up to the events here so that you can piece it all together. As far as gameplay and story, it is great. Takes a little getting used to the fighting if you are coming from Skyrim for example but the hundreds of quests and side quests will keep you busy for a very long time. Well worth a play through.

The initial reviews that were down on this game are not all inaccurate. There is a lot of travel and delivery in this game. The game opens up a lot more after a few hours and the story starts to come together. Once you start to understand everything going on and get past the slower section of the game, this is a great experience.

This game feels like a natural evolution from the second installment nearly 10 years ago. It has enough depth to the combat to make it fun and not just a button masher. It has a huge roster of characters with more on the way as well.
My biggest gripes are the camera angles are often wonky and hard to get right in battles or areas with dynamic terrain and the sound has gone out of sync before being delayed from the action on screen by a whole second.
Neither of those happen constantly and this game is really fun regardless.
