Good: Picture quality is simple superb.
Bad:
1. Only stereo sound on Vudu.
2. No dolby atmos on Disney Plus.
3. Can't customize the subtitles. There is no option in the settings for this.

I needed to replace my 3D bluray player which lasted about 9 years which was also an Lg. Lg 's 3d was always very good but this new player is incredible. what is also nice is that my 3d tv is NOT 4k, but the player is. The dvd player down scales the 4k movies to 1080 which really was a good design because my tv is also as old as the original player so it is probably going to need to be replaced shortly as well . So when the tv goes I don't have to buy a new dvd player in 4k . I know 3d is done but have to admit the Lg 3d with the passive glasses is really amazing

I see that you have old TV and down scale worked fine. But when i try to play 4K bluray with same setup like yours, i get message like not compatible. reason for playing 4k movies on non-4k TV is to feel dolby atmos available only on 4k blurays. could you plz let me know how did you succeed in playing 4k movies on non-4k tv

Is mostly stereo. Even atmos trailers show input as stereo to my receiver. i got it to out put 5.1 once and the next day it was back to stereo with atmos media. Google failed on this product.

I was not disappointed. All specs were excellent. The user interface was a great improvement over the Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha receivers I have used recently. Tip: when moving from 2 to 4 height speakers the connection of back surround will change. The sound quality left nothing else to be desired, excellent. The preamp outs for all channels added flexibility for experimenting with external homemade speakers, equalizers and analog amps. Loved the DIRAC calibration which used the computing power of a cellphone. I will mention one other unique issue I had. I was using 2 passive subwoofers with my choice of full range stereo amps. I needed to add external equalizer as during some music environments I could hear noise (digital?). A regular powered subwoofer would not have this issue, low pass filter and bass boost is built in.

Hi.. I am exactly in the same situation of using 4 height speakers and to use height 2 additional speakers, I had to use preouts for surround back as mentioned in the manual. I am using trigger cable also. But for some reason, Onkyo never recognizes the surround back. No sound coming when i check in level calibration. In Amazon Q&A section, everyone says to use zone 3/hieght 2 which I tried, but no luck. Any idea/suggestion on how you were able to get it worked?
I had Denon 4400H before this and that worked perfectly fine with additional height speakers

11.2 setup - not working. Tried as per manual where back surrounds go to external amp which connects onkyo via preouts RCA cable and height 2 to the onkyo internal amp's surround back straight. But thats not working. Please help if anyone has it working

It is listed as 9.2 channel. How would I make it 11.2 channel (I mean how would I add additional 2 speakers/channels)

HDR to SDR vice versa switch - All streaming devices usually have a lag (black screen for a while) on switching from one format to another. Even the previous model of Apple TV 4K has that. Does this new model has any improvement in that?
