Stanley Kubrick tackles the Horror Genre in this psychological thriller from 1980. This was adapted from the Stephen King novel & in my humble opinion, I believe that the movie is superior. It looks & sounds great in both Blu-ray & 4k! If you're a fan of Stephen King, Stanley Kubrick, or Horror of any kind, you'll love this one!

A Classic Gets a Great Reboot!

If you're an old geezer like me, you might remember watching the original Star Blazers when it aired in the early 80's. This was the first Japanese Animated Series that I regularly watched every Sunday morning at 7:00 am. I was 7 or 8 years old & I asked my mom to buy me an alarm clock, just for me to set it so I'd never miss a single episode! This newer, updated rendition of the series is very well written & wonderfully animated. It is beautiful to look at & definitely binge watching material!

In order to save his life, his parents placed him in a rocketship & launched it into outer space before the destruction of Krypton. After a long journey, he ended up on Earth, in Russia instead of Kansas. With he becoming the most powerful being on Earth & a symbol of the Communist Soviet Union, the U.S.A. must try to, by any means necessary, thwart this nemesis.

An animated adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's classic m

I bought this on DVD when it was first released many years ago & I thoroughly enjoyed it. The screenplay was written by Katsuhiro Otomo, the writer & director of Akira, and it was directed by Rintaro, the director of many great classic shows & movies such as: the Galaxy Express 999 movies, both Captain Harlock Space Pirate- TV series & X the movie. At first, I was skeptical of whether or not to purchase this on Blu-ray, having already owned it on DVD. But after reading several positive reviews, I decided to buy it. The Hi-Def picture alone was worth the money! When watching the old scan on DVD, the hand drawn animation looks very blurry & it doesn't seem to blend with the CGI animation. With this newer scan, everything looks crisp & the picture is gorgeous to look at! This film is an homage to Osamu Tezuka & Fritz Lang.
If you are a fan of classic Anime, or a lover of classic Cinema, you will enjoy this. You may even get emotional. I found myself weeping at the end of the picture.
