The first Sicario was a sleeper hit for me. I walked into the theater with minimal knowledge of the film, not having even seen a trailer. My wife and I had decided to go see a movie, but had nothing we were really looking forward to at the time. We looked at what was playing, read a spoiler free bare-bones synopsis of Sicario, and opted to go see it on a whim. The cast was ridiculous so we figured it would be good. I ended up being beyond blown away by it. It is easily one of my favorite films now.
With that said, Day of the Saldado is not quite as good as the first Sicario. Denis Villeneuve not returning as the director feels like it is 90% of the reason for this. The pacing is not quite as well handled. Instead of artfully and steadily building into a fantastically violent crescendo, it rises and falls at times. Consequently, the experience is a little less "edge of your seat" than the first. Also, without something to fill the void of the unusual perspective switch from the first, Day of the Saldado feels a little less unique and more like a straight forward dramatic action film. The final conflict/resolution, while somewhat subversive, is not ultimately as satisfying as it was in the first either.
With all of that said, it is still and excellent film. While Villeneuve did not return to direct, the original writer of the first film did. Consequently, the story and premises themselves are actually very clever and original. As to be expected, Brolin and Del Toro both turn in tight performances. As does basically the entire cast.
Ultimately, while it is not quite as well done as the first, it is still an excellent film. Well worth spending the $$$ to see in my opinio

Once again, Dinos steal the show in the latest of the new Jurassic World story. This time greed and an emerging danger combine to tell a dramatic tale of a race against time as the former park faces destruction from the volcano. The actors were perfectly cast, and their interaction carried the picture to an interesting conclusion ( perhaps setting the stage for the final film, due I believe 2021) and which promises to be just as good as its prievous films. Get the bluray and watch the final extra by Barbasol its great! but only on the bluray.

The humor is more dark (with plenty of unapologetic violence) than one would expect in with two traditionally light-hearted actresses starring the film. Most of the humor also won't appeal to the guys as there are a number of crude jokes from a female's perspective. The exaggeration is widespread and plot-line is completely unrealistic (but when did that stop most thriller/action movies), but it's a carefree mindless movie with always brilliant and novel acting by Kate McKinnon. Part of the "problem" with this movie is that our society still has not found a way to accept women as funny the way traditional crude humor is portrayed with male protagonists.

Wow. You got Nic Cage, at this peak(whatever that means). Unnecessary, but completely necessary explosions. Dialogue that's cornier than Kansas, epic guitar being played in the background throughout seemingly the entire movie, Steve Buscemi being weird. No really, that's literally his character in this movie. The whole reason why Nic Cage wound up in jail had me laughing hysterically. Side note, his "southern accent" is so bad it's good. The whole movie is so formulaic and has all the stereotypical action fare that it has this instant charm to it. For example, before a big shootout the characters effortlessly find loads of explosive barrels, and suddenly they're armed to the teeth with m16s and one guy has a grenade launcher. This is so much fun. It's the kind of movie that the creators of South Park would make, except that would be a parody, this here is genuine.

The computer graphics are primitive by today's standards -- though state of the art at the time -- but it's a great story, with humor, suspense, great actors and just a lot of fun.

There's a lot about Mile 22 to hate. The dialogue sometimes seems like it's more from a Scary Movie version of an action film than a smart, tight thriller, but I have to say — I love this movie. I really appreciated Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg's work on Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon and Patriots Day and this kind of felt like the two men keep the same messaging and sensibilities, but letting their hair down. I guess I let my hair down too because I loved all that was good and all that was bad about this movie. If you're a sucker for action movies, this packs all of the cliches, but they all seem to be done with love and there is some genuinely interesting stuff here. The movie's head and heart are in the right place and I'd love to see sequels. Bring 'em
Hi. I see that "Jurassic World" comes in two 4k versions which look exactly alike. What are the differences between these two versions?
