Francis Coppola’s take on the Bram Stoker novel emphasizes the romance angle with a young cast and old school in-camera effects. The music by Roman Polanski’s regular composer is outstanding. The 4K transfer - grain and all - shows the beauty of the cinematography and is the best this movie has ever looked on home video. A must for fans of the movie.

This entry in the Transformers series is more modest in scope than it’s Michael Bay directed predecessors and all the better for it. It’s much more Spielbergian, playing exactly like something Spielberg would have done in the 80s. The movie is set in the 80s which really drives this aspect home. The Transformers themselves look stunning in 4K with a level of detail and color brilliance that outdoes even the Blu-ray. Good movie and a very good 4K disc.

Being a fan of DC’s animation I was curious to see what their latest feature would look like in 4K on my new 65” Samsung 4K UHD TV. While the movie itself is not among the top tier of DC’s animated features the presentation on the disc is impeccable. The color and light emanating from the screen is quite pleasing and has a definite edge over the standard Blu-ray.
