It's no surprise Joaquin Phoenix won an Oscar for his performance in Joker, it's an amazing depiction of a twisted mind.
Cinematography is also well done, it's a bit gritty and dark, which sets the mood just right.
The biggest letdown for me is that the story itself is weak and left me wanting.

The story itself is like a pinball machine, so it will keep you on the edge of your seat, but it's not a "great" story. That said, it's not a bad story either.
