Cable modem keeps dropping to half speed!

This cable modem bites. I replaced the cable company's provided modem with this one. What a mistake. I'm supposed to receive ≥100 Mbps of data, and I register that when I reboot this modem. But after a short time later, it drops down to 50 Mbps. I reboot it and it does the same thing.
Going back to cable company provided modem.
