Not nearly as good as the original but this one gets better with repeated viewings. A little long in the tooth at over two and a half hours but overall worthy remake.

Used to enjoy watching the HBO series and the movies aren't half bad either. I hate that the series is over and that we probably won't see another sequel but I'm glad I can revisit these films at a ridiculously low price. What are you waiting for?

I'll admit I wasn't sure initially if I'd even like the film let alone never watch it again. The opening musical number was rather silly and definitely not necessary but I enjoyed the rest of the film hence the five star rating. Ryan and Emma were great together and this one definitely needed to be in my eclectic movie collection. It's affordable and certainly enjoyable so there's no reason not to include this film in your collection too.

It's fair to say most of us had not heard of let alone seen Moonlight before it won best picture but it was definitely a nice surprise. There isn't a whole lot I can say about this film that probably hasn't already been said but it's a keeper. i'm glad this virtually unknown film won and I'll admit there are scenes in this film which literally moved me to tears. Yes, it's that moving. Get yourself a copy if you don't already have one.

Such a sad documentary but very well done on every level. For those of who loved Whitney, this may be a bit tough to take but it's definately worth the investment. I've already watched this twice and will likely view it again in the near future.

No matter what the critics say, I've been a fan of this since I watched it at 7 years of age. I've never stopped loving this film. Whether you like Footloose or Dirty Dancing better shouldn't matter because there is something here for fans of both films. For that matter, fans of Purple Rain could very well fit into this same bucket. Great dancing, heartfelt story, and a beautiful lead actress make this film tops.

Don't get me wrong. Kubrick made a great film when he made his version of King's classic 40 years ago. It was a psychological masterpiece by any standard and I still watch it sometimes to this very day. Unfortunately, it's easy to understand why people might prefer this version. As far as remakes go, this one is a lot more faithful to the classic novel and thus makes it necessary. If you loved the original Shining or even Doctor Sleep, you really should grab this if you haven't already.

Not sure how I missed this or if I was just asleep around the late eighties but this was a nice little gem. As always, Modine delivers a fairly solid performance and Zuniga is also charming as well. Very likable film if not a bit sad at times. SO happy to have discovered this film even late in my life. Cheers.

Yet another life affirming film which should not be missed. I had never heard of this one until it's dvd release but I'm glad that I found out about this little gem. This goes in my top ten list for 2019. A must see and try to obtain a copy for yourself if you can.

I'll admit this has to be one of the most moving films I've experienced in many years. The film is beautiful if not ultimately heartbreaking in virtually every sense of the word. I've bought multiple copies from retailers since the initial release and will continue to recommend this film.
