Big Drive - Easy to Use

I needed to copy some large video files and needed a large capacity hard drive to get the job done. The drive worked well and I'm currently using it on an editing project.
I work on a Mac and this version is set up a little more for a PC (there's also a version sold at Best Buy for a Mac but it was not in stock at my store).
To make sure it works on your Mac, reformat it with the Disk Utility program before you use it. This just takes a few minutes to do. You may want to Google the process for more info. I do suggest unplugging any other external hard drives or flash drives before you reformat with the erase function, as you don't want to erase the wrong drive.
One thing to keep in mind is the size of the files you'll be importing to the drive, like I did for video. For me, the video files were bigger than 4 gigs, so I formatted on the exFAT setting. Basically, that means the drive will work on a mac but you can import and store larger files on the external drive.

My growing video and photo connection needed more storage. This does the job. Seemed to be slightly cheaper than similar drives in this category, perhaps due to the blue color. Note that you can use with a Mac and a pc but you need to do some disk formatting for both. Google how to do it...not too complicated.

Does the Passport 2TB External USB 3.0 Portable HD come formatted for a Imac computer?
Out of the box, no but it's an easy fix. On your iMac is a program called Disk Utility. You can use that to reformat your disk for use on a Mac. You'll erase the disk and reformat it to work on Mac with I believe either the FAT32 or exFAT (for transferring in files larger than 4 gigs) setting.
I'm not super technical, Googled the process, and in a few minutes my disk was running on my iMac.
I believe a similar version of the drive is made for the Mac but at my store it was not in stock.
