300 has never looked or sounded better. The heavily stylized look and layer of fine grain finally has room to breathe on the superior UHD format, HDR revitalizes the color pallet without straying from the artistic intent, and the Dolby Atmos track absolutely rocks.

This is a fantastic new scan and transfer of a fanboy classic. Never looked or sounded so good on home video and the bonus features are excellent. You get some new ones and some old ones that give you a lot of insight into the production, the zeitgeist around it, the thoughts that went into etc.
Still a great, one-of-a-kind movie too.
Bonus points for great packaging and presentation as well. Arrow always does a nice job.

I was simply blown away by how warm, rich and robust the color and lighting in this 4K UHD disc release of Home Alone was. Additionally, the fine grain structure and fullness of the image made everything seem more solid, larger than life, and with more depth than ever before.
Couldn't ask for better. Some of the finest work on a Fox classic release via Disney. Don't hesitate to have this one in your library for Christmas. A huge upgrade over previous formats and masters.

It's rare that a 2000's era movie clicks with me so much, and feels so poignant, engaging and thematically creative. Highly rewatcheable.
J.K. Simmons gives an amazing performance as an immutably memorable character, in an endlessly quotable film. Playing a music teacher who pushes young jazz musicians at an elite school, to their absolute limits, on a quest to push them beyond their limits. Mile Teller makes a fantastic debut, holding his own, as a drummer that catches his eye... or his ire.
It tells a story that can be seen as both troubling and admirable, while making a great case for the importance of criticism as a facet of art and human excellence. Always demanding more, never satisfied... is there merit to this mentality? Have a watch and see what you think.

Luc Besson's lone wolf noir at it's best on 4K UHD

There's a subgenre of films dealing with slick action and a somewhat pensive quality coming from a central figure... be that an assassin, a spy, a samurai or a getaway driver. Think Ghost Dog, Le Samourai, Ronin etc.
Leon (The Professional) is arguably the very best of them all. Impeccably performed by a cast of Jean Reno (as the titular hitman, Leon), Natalie Portman (her first appearance as a young protege in need of protection), and the always amazing Gary Oldman (as a dangerous, corrupt detective), masterfully shot and scored, and setting it's action to a very French set of psychological plumbs that make it seem far more human, heady and important than so many of it's contemporaries in the genre.
You will root for the hero, hope for the heroine, and recoil from the villain all while marveling at the scenarios, the action, the intrigue and the entire composition of the film. If you're not yet a fan of the genre, it will make you one.
The 4K UHD itself is astounding. One of Sony's absolute best UHD transfers. The 35mm scan deliveries so much fullness and detail in greater resolution, the expanded color provides so much texture and warmth, while he HDR application is so tastefully applied that it gives you the sense you're watching a real film projection from 1994, pristine condition on opening day, right in your home.
This UHD release is celebrated by both fans of lesser known films and video quality addicts for a good reason.

Paul Walker's best film by far. If only we could have gotten more like this.
Running Scared was one of those semi-indie, almost-big budget feeling movies I just happened to discover in the early 2000's, on DVD. Was very happy to get it back on blu-ray.
It will take you through a grimy, frantic ride through drama, danger, violence, and crime as an undercover cop looks to save a young boy in need, protect his family and somehow keep himself alive in the process. Delivered with a hyper stylized, almost magical realism sense of dynamic energy, brutality and graphic novel-esque creativity, it's one unique action movie with a solid story and cast of characters.
A must see if you want something rough, real and fresh.

A Few Good Men is still a pretty good 90's mainstream film about the call of duty and acceptable behavior. A nice drama with suspense, and some great, iconic performances by big names like Jack Nicholson.
Movie aside, the 4K UHD is a true stunner. This is one of the releases that had people calling Sony the undisputed champ of the format. The detail, clarity, pixel density and fullness will floor you and the wider color gamut + HDR is applied to tastefully, accurately and noticeably... shadows so deep, with so much retained detail. Automobiles with perfect sheen. Glints and reflections in the actors eyes that will strike you as seemingly impossible.
Can't recommend this release enough to anyone looking to see how great older movies can look in 4K HDR, with a pretty enjoyable movie to boot. If you're of the mindset that only newer movies, shot with digital cameras etc can shine on UHD, this will surely change your mind.
Marvel's potty-mouthed mercenary anti-hero is back in this laugh- and action-packed sequel. Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) assembles a team of mutants called X-Force in order to stop cybernetic, time-traveling soldier Cable (Josh Brolin) from killing Russell Collins (Julian Dennison), a young mutant who will murder Cable's family in the future. What could possibly go wrong when Deadpool and Cable are forced to put their differences aside and work together? With Zazie Beetz, Morena Baccarin. 119 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks English Dolby Atmos, DVS 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles English (SDH), Spanish, French; gag reel; photo gallery; deleted scenes; extended scenes; featurettes; audio commentary. Four-disc set.

If you've seen the original film, you know what kind of wit, self-awareness and absurdity to expect. They delivered it again, this time with a few more characters like Cable and Domino, who make for fantastic chemistry and humor. Lots of visual excitement ties it altogether with a nice ballet of action, jocular riffs, and close quarters, dialogue-driven moments. Hard to say whether I like the sequel or the original more, but why split hairs when I can have both?
The 4K UHD package is quite nice, coming with 4 discs, one for each cut and format (including regular blu-ray), and a nice #message on each disc, giving it a bit of unique flair.
The Theatrical Cut and the Super Duper Cut are both viable, though I find myself preferring the latter. It not only adds some runtime here and there, but also changes things up a bit throughout all of it, with different jokes, extended set up and punchline times, alternate music etc. Makes for a unique comparison, better than the usual Director's Cut or Uncut release of a theatrical film just being "more" as just a selling point.
I find the Super Duper Cut actually looks a smidge more detailed on UHD than the Theatrical Cut, and though the HDR in Deadpool 2 is a bit restrained (also a 2K DCP versus the original films 4K finish), it has such a cool, thick texture and atmosphere to it thanks to the hazy lighting, smokey appearance and almost negative burn-in approach to the way the film was shot and visualized. The UHD really brings out a unique feel with it's HDR depth and contrast, as well the wider color gamut intensifying the gritty, cold, metallic and stone feel the whole presentation exhibits.
I'd recommend Deadpool 2 to any fan of the original, and find the UHD package to be a nice, generous value thanks to including both cuts on their own discs, ala Logan with it's 4-disc "Noir" version.

I was luckily able to avoid any spoilers until I could finally see this at home with the 4K UHD release. Even though I've never been a die hard MCU fan (I enjoy them all, just not *only* MCU movies), I was absolutely blown away by this movie. What an accomplishment to finally pull off such a crossover after so much build up, for so many years. Can't wait to see what happens next!
The 4K UHD's visual presentation is impeccable. It looks glorious with the HDR and wider color gamut bringing all the color, lights, costumes and CG to life in a terrific way. I was truly immersed from the very opening shot, and found it to be so deliciously palatable for the entire run time. Easily the best release from Disney (and Marvel) on the format so far, and I can only imagine how much better it would have looked with a 4K DCP finish at the theatrical level. The industry will get there, I suppose. Even with CG fests. Star Wars has.
One of the best discs to show off your new 4K HDR set up, comparable to other 4K light shows like Pacific Rim and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

I actually really enjoyed The Last Jedi. It says and does a lot of interesting stuff, finally connected me to some of the current saga's main characters, and I absolutely love how Luke plays out despite the contention among fans. Gives me goosebumps every time.
The 4K UHD presentation is a mixed bag. It's very authentic to the theatrical presentation's look, but that look happens to be pretty restrained HDR-wise and a bit thin on the black levels with the opening space crawl immediately revealing itself to be more grey than black. This seems to be common with current Star Wars film finishes.
That said, I do find the look to be quite nice on my end, the HDR is tasteful, the wider color gamut is very rich and evocative, the full 4K DCP translated wonderfully into UHD home release with lots of fine detail, pixel density, and occasionally nice film grain depending on the cameras used for the shot.
I feel at odds asking for Star Wars to be more at home than it was in theaters, but it really would make for a reference quality 4K UHD release, and that's what Star Wars deserves. Still quite enjoyable, and most people might not notice, but if you're expecting a light show from Last Jedi's light sabers and laser fire on UHD, you won't find it. Hopefully episode IX packs more of a visual punch, with more clarity, and ends up with a stellar home release.
