Team Sonic Racing review
on November 13, 2020

I'd give this a 3 and a half star if it was an option. I'm a huge fan of Sega racing games, always have been, always will be. The Sonic Racing series that really took flight with Sonic and All-Star Racing Transformed is still one of the very best kart racing games I've ever played. I mean it when I say it can easily be seated against any Mario Kart game or even Crash Team Racing, it's that good. So my hopes were pretty high for this. Unfortunately they went with this gimmick of you having a trio of characters to racing around with, think Sonic Heroes in cars. It's weird to get used to at first since the place of each person on your team will tally your total score at the end of the race. Naturally you all work together but this would have been far better as a mode of play rather than the entire experience as a whole. I don't mind trying new things with any genre to mix it up and push the envelope but it took away from the basic aspects of what made the previous two entries so special. There was also a lack of other Sega properties since this was solely a Sonic racing game this time around which naturally bummed me out but what can you do? Hopefully down the road we get a sequel to Transformed.

Sony - WFXB700 Headphones review
on November 13, 2020

Personally I prefer headphones that go over your ears but when you're trying to work out earbuds are certainly the way to go. Granted most people seemingly just buy whatever Apple puts out but honestly I feel like you don't get as much bang for your buck with their products. Sony has always been a go-to of mine when it came to headphone sin general unless you're really trying to drop some serious cash. These have been great, hold a really good charge, aren't super uncomfortable, don't look all weird and goofy, pair easily with my phone. Well worth the cash thrown down.

Bayonetta and Vanquish are amazing, big facts

Platinum Games is a studio that when they're attached to any kind of product I automatically take notice. Not nearly as common as I'd like it to be with most modern studios but they've typically been on top of things.
Bayonetta doesn't really need much of an introduction considering it helped set an even higher mark for action games last generation on the Xbox 360 and PS3 but then you have it running far smoother, looking even nicer and bundled it with Vanquish? Only one of the better 3rd person shooters to come out that seemingly gets absolutely no attention despite deserving every bit of it, hard to argue with this pack.

MediEvil PS4 Review

Given how much I enjoyed the original two MediEvil games back in the glorious PS1 days when this got announced (very quietly I might add) I was all on board. A silly horror game with platforming and hack n slash combat? Absolutely, sign me up.

Joker Amiibo

I know Amiibo figures aren't exactly as hot as they once were but the quality of them is leaps and bounds above what they were when they initially started. Then we have something like Joker here from Persona 5, already an amazing game (One of the best from this generation in consoles honestly) and you had me sold.

Despite the success it feels overlooked

The Switch has so many great games on it and more continue to pile in. Both new games, indie games, games from the past that may have somehow managed to escape the Nintendo radar are finding new life under the Big N.
Super Mario Maker is a game that will not ever get boring or have a limit on what you can do with it. You can make your own stages or play a bunch of custom stages from Nintendo, maybe try out hundreds of thousands of stages made by fans that are online and ready to give a go.
I've always enjoyed any game that allowed me to just create whatever I like. The Sims, Minecraft, Mario Paint, Dreams, Blast Works, RPG Maker etc. you name it, I've probably played it and enjoyed it for countless hours.
They've added so much new content with recent updates including things from Super Mario Bros. 2 which was something I had been hoping to see since the first Super Mario Maker on Wii U.
This is fun, easy to play, fun to make stages and have friends or family play. Something you can actually play with the kids or just to try out some of the neat things fans have come up with. If you're a Mario Bros. fan this is an absolute must purchase.

The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns completely rebuilt for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh look on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, excitingly immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.

Arguably the best Resident Evil game ever
on June 26, 2020

No I'm not actually kidding. The Resident Evil 2 Remake managed to do something that many games out there fail to do and that's meld together both classic and modern horror into one package. A game that ushers in a whole new generation to see what the big deal was about Resident Evil 2 for many of us (Like myself) that played it back in the day. All the while not straying so far away from what made the original so successful and special and familiar.
From the controls, to the graphics, to the additions it is all top tier in virtually every single way imaginable. I do recommend you get the original soundtrack DLC and activate it. The new music while good doesn't manage to capture the mood and atmosphere of the OG soundtrack.
Play this game over and over, trust me it's well worth it.

Good for fans of Paper Mario

Watching a few reviews online and gameplay videos was a pretty easy way to convince myself to pick up Hero Land. It's a funny turn-based RPG that doesn't take itself too serious and something you can kind of just relax and enjoy. Sure why not give it a whirl?
Problem is that the game is slow, very slow honestly. Which is amazing since it has a feature built in to speed up the combat by three times. Still you find yourself having to grind a whole lot to get any sort of levels or money before continuing forward.
There's also a severe lack of control you have over your team. Typically you input whatever commands for your characters to perform in a role-playing game, whether that would be attacking, defending, using items, or performing magic. In Hero Land you only control the main character who isn't actually on the combat field. They can use items on some of the team, tell all your team to focus on attacking one individual, focus on using skills when attacking but that's something that has to be built up over a course of time before you get that option. Otherwise the combat is on auto throughout.
The grinding doesn't stop there since you may want to go back into a specific battle over and over again until you get certain items to drop for those us out there that are completionists. Which isn't exactly out of the ordinary for the genre but added in with everything else and the battles feeling relatively boring due to how little strategy it feels like you've given you'll quickly find yourself messing about on your phone while you go through dungeons.
The writing and the characters themselves can be pretty amusing and quite likeable but none of them exactly have a lot of depth to them so they can be difficult to get into. Seeing the cast grow and all their interactions together can be funny at times but other times you'll feel like you've stumbled across the same tropes in some by-the-numbers anime.
I really do want to like Hero land and I know I've spent a lot of time dogging on it but it's just boring. Like the main story itself never really evolves to such a degree that I feel like all the hours poured into it seemed worth it. I guess I had higher expectations for whatever reason and they weren't matched in any way.
Worth getting if you see it for super cheap, maybe $10 or less.

The best Spider-Man game ever made

It might seem like that's a bold statement to make but honestly without a doubt this is the best Spider-Man game to be made. Sure I love the PS1/PS2 era games and even last gen had some killer titles but this is the most polished it's ever been and honestly think this is the best the story has even been let alone acted.

My favorite current gen controller
on January 18, 2019

PS4 has my favorite controller this gen even despite some minor flaws with its design such as the light bar which you still cannot shut all the way off. They let you dim it but that's all and them using micro sd rather than USB type C just doesn't cut it sometimes.
But the longer handles and the adjusted triggers which blow the PS3 trigger buttons out of the water are quite nice. The track pad doesn't seem like it's really needed in my opinion as is a physical share button, personally think that could just be built into the Playstation menu in general and go back to having Select and Start instead but that's a personal preference.
I do like that there's a mic and little speaker on there even though the speaker itself doesn't seem to get used a whole heck of a lot. It's a comfortable controller too and something I've even used on PC even though there aren't official drivers for it so you gotta use 3rd party programs but it's still worth it. Their d-pad is still my favorite out of everyone else's out there and makes for the best 2D fighting experience and I emulate a lot so it's pretty nice in that regard too.
