However, his increasingly inept attempts bring him only more agony and embarrassment. Filled with the wildest teen nightmares, a family you can't help but identify with and a host of wonderful comic characters, Savage Steve Holland's writing/directorial debut is a masterful look at those painfully funny teen years.

This film is a masterfully-executed absurdist film. Cusack is incredible as the teenager half-existing as he stumbles through the strange but meaningful world he lives in. It’s absurd, but speaks truth to certain parts of existence. An 80’s classic that stands with the best of them.

Fun movie about connecting

I’m a fan of the cast, and so was very interested in this film. It’s a funny, sweet movie with great characters and really great directing. The cast had chemistry and I found it a highly enjoyable film. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a film that’s a messy, fun romcom.
