Whether Tobe Hooper or Steven Spielberg directed is up for debate. So, as for the film itself I think it’s magnificent, but does it hold up for a younger audience? The effects weren’t that great even back in 1982 considering Poltergeist came from the same time period as Wrath of Khan and E.T.. I would point to the example of when they opened the kid’s room door and the record, lamp and action figures go flying around the room. The acting alone though does make up for the slow beginning and the outdated scene of the construction workers harassing the sixteen-year-old daughter. I’m no prude, but it’s hard to watch. I suppose better films would be Amityville Horror, the Entity or Changling, but I really like this film. As for the Steelbook cover, I think this one’s a little lazy. I find myself turning away from the more expensive covers as they don’t hold much appeal for me. The cover for the standard edition isn’t much better, so if price matters, go with that one.

There are a lot of great Steelbook out there but to be fair this one was a little underwhelming. Save the cast and go for the standard edition. Otherwise it is a fun movie that pokes fun at horror tropes of the Eighties and Nineties

I picked up the Steelbook Edition. No complaints there. Pattinson and cast do a superb job, but held to many nods and comparisons to Heath Ledger. Problem is it ignored Nolan’s timeline as well as the Gotham series. Would have been better off keeping in line with that cast including their Joker. Too many alternate story lines and universes to keep up with.
Remember those adorable baby alligators that your parents flushed down the toilet years ago? Well, one of them fed on dead animals that had been injected with a growth formula, and now he's a 36-foot-long maneater on a rampage under the streets of Chicago. Can a local cop (Robert Forster) and a reptile expert (Robin Riker) stop the carnage while there's still time? Gut-grabbing horror thriller co-stars Jack Carter, Henry Silva; script by John Sayles. 90 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

A seventies gem born out of the Jaws craze. While many films of these Jaws ripoffs were bad, Alligator is a fun film on its own. After I got this, I watched it twice. It was meant to be cartoonish, so the director of the film states in the commentary, but it doesn’t come off that way at all.

I’m not exactly a big fan of superhero movies. They seem to all be the same formulaic let downs, but this is definitely the exception. It’s a near perfect film with a great cast. It hard to tell who steals the show. Everyone is so great.

This is arguably the last of the great Walking Dead seasons. It’s not perfect, but you can see that every moment was leading to something. Almost. The woke agenda that began in the season prior and plagues later seasons begins to creep in here as well, but it is yet to be overly distracting. Each character has their moments. There are too many to be sure, but actors have time to shine - their performances brilliant at times. I’ll go out on a limb here and say Negan wasn’t as intimidating as the Governor of Season Three. At its core, the Walking Dead has always been a movie about war, but at least in this season when a character died, there was a weight to it. That won’t be so in later seasons. The dead are toned down and aren’t too gimmicky. I took the time to rewatch the season before posting a review and I was still thoroughly entertained. You may consider picking up Season Eight along with this one to continue the Savior’s War arch.
CIA agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and black ops specialist Alejandro Gillick (Benicio Del Toro) plan to further the war between the Mexican drug cartels in the hopes it will stop Islamic terrorists from being brought into the U.S. over the border. They kidnap the daughter (Isabela Moner) of one of the cartel bosses, but when Gillick refuses Graver's order to execute her, the two comrades find themselves on opposite sides of a very deadly conflict. Jeffrey Donovan, Catherine Keener co-star in this thrilling sequel. 122 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Two-disc set.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado loses points only because of how intense and truly frightening the first one was. That’s not to say this one was bad and it did have its moments. Benicio del Toro gives us a great performance in the sense that less is more. It’s truly his movie. Josh Brolin however is great as well, but when the US government agents interfere in their operation is when Brolin’s character gets sidelined. Missing also in this film is overwhelmed and flabbergasted Emily Blunt’s character and her partner. Great movie that landed just shy of the first film’s brilliance. Highly recommended.

So first off, I love this highly influential show. I have since I was a child. That being said I understand the show’s low budget monster of the week format, but like Star Trek a few years before, fans often overlook that. I would recommend this to early Star Trek or X-Files fans. But before you watch this, you should know about the two TV movies that come before this fun, but campy series.

After watching so many big budget studio films in the past ten years which, with few exceptions, kinda left me with feelings of disappointment, I’ve decided to turn my attention to much more inspired films of the past. I picked up the Olive Films Signature edition chocked full of special features and Kevin McCarthy is a gem. This movie inspired not one, not two, but three remakes…count ‘em. Three. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Am I missing any? So get out your bug spray and look out for pod people, because “They're here already! You're next! You're next!” Ahhhhhh.

I don’t know who I would recommend this to except for people over forty. This is the quintessential raunchy 70s college campus humor movie. I think it’s supposed to take place in the 60s. While it can look dated and not as bombastic as it would be if it were retold today, it has a simper approach to this kind of adult material. That being said, I could this film charming and the humor stand up to the test of time. From Wikipedia: (2001, the United States Library of Congress deemed Animal House "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. It was No. 1 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies". It was No. 36 on AFI's "100 Years... 100 Laughs" list of the 100 best American comedies. In 2008, Empire magazine selected it as No. 279 of "The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time".)
