The gameplay in this game is really fun. It's an action game: some strategy, some reflex based. The great part is there are a bunch of jobs, and you can choose one depending on what playstyle you prefer. You also unlock jobs throughout the game and it's easy to switch between them. There's a great variety of enemies to fight (with cool bosses) and the levels look very distinct from one another. I feel like the game was just the right amount of challening.
The story was honestly meh. It has some cool moments, and the characters are endearing but not really memorable. The gameplay makes up for it.

Fantastic Follow-Up

Horizon Zero Dawn was a great game, and Horizon Forbidden West is a great sequel that expands upon everything form the first game.
The story did have some issues, mainly with pacing and some forgettable side characters, but overall was a good follow up to the original. It leaned into the sci-fi genre in ways I didn't expect but still enjoyed. I enjoyed the side content much more than the first game.
The world was fun to explore and looked incredible (even on ps4).
They expanded on the combat with plenty of new weapons. Honestly sometimes it gives you too many options and can feel kind of overwhelming, but having all those choices means you can choose how you play.

Fantastic Follow-Up to Persona 5

Presentation and story-wise the game 100% feels like a sequel to Persona 5. There was a sense of familiarity as the game started and all the familiar characters (and some locations) appeared. The story of this character is definitely reminiscent of persona 5, but it has its own interesting twist and turns. A big plus in this story is that the characters keep all their character development from the first game (which is something that sequels can fail at) and apply that to the new situations they find themselves in. The new characters in this game are also top tier and fit very well in the persona 5 world (I prefer them to the new Royal characters).
The big differences in this game are that the social link system is gone, and the combat is not turn-based.
My big worry for this game was the combat, but I ended up greatly enjoying it. It keeps the weakness system as Persona 5(pausing time to cast with persona), but with real time melee, gun, and combo attacks. It can be a more spammy than the original combat and the post-game is extremely grindy, but during the story I found it to be fun and even challenging.

Alright Story with Great Combat

My favorite part of this game was the combat. It was what made me want the game in the first place, and I definitely wasn't disappointed with that part. It wasn't the deepest combat system ever, but it worked well and was a lot of fun to use. The different character abilities and combinations made the combat stay fresh for a while, which was great.
The story started off promising but was ultimately lackluster. All of the characters fall flat, and I found most of them pretty forgettable even with the 'relationship building' aspect of the game. The story was very anime, especially with some of the plot twists, parts of it were promising, but for some reason I just didn't find it that compelling.
The dual protagonists felt like a bit of a missed opportunity, because they explain everything important you would learn in the other playthrough no matter which character you have. I didn't actually finish the second playthrough, because the story and characters didn't feel interesting enough to see the different parts, especially since all the big reveals have already been told to you.
Also, the game has terrible side quests. These are some of the most poorly designed, boring, inconsequential side quests every in a game. No relevance to the story, no cutscenes even, just boring filler.
I still give the game 3.5/5 because it's overall a good game, I just found the story and characters to be a bit lackluster. It's good for a one-time playthrough to pass the time, but not really memorable or amazing.

Its great to play a long awaited game and have it be worth the wait! I loved this game so much. The characters were all interesting and likeable. The plot was interesting and does a good job at setting the stage for the rest of the story to come. The character model graphic were incredible and that along with really good voice acting elevated the story a lot.
I also loved the new combat for the game. The game constantly has you switching between characters and parties to keep the combat fresh, but also gives you enough time to get used to each character's combat and personalize it using the Materia system.
As a bonus the music is incredible.
I can't wait for the next part. :)
