Mortal Kombat 11 just didn’t do it for me the way MK 9 and 10. I really loved how they went back to the MK II format with MK 9. It “felt” like what I remember MK playing like back in the day. MK 10 added some things that were okay (fight/power styles), it wasn’t over the top though. With MK 11, I just got this feeling they had bloated the game with all the trinkets and such you could use to boost your character.
Does it add replay value? Well, if you like grinding for your character more than just through the fight itself, sure. But if you just want a basic fighter without tons of stuff to unlock, not so much.
It looks pretty, it plays well, but seems like a lot of maintenance involved if you have the time.

I picked this up for my wife during the Black Friday sale. She was a big fan of the original TV series but we had not seen the new one (didn’t have Showtime and never got around to streaming it…the life of busy parents and all).
If you haven’t seen this new series but enjoyed the first one, you owe it to yourself to check this one out. It’s Dexter back up to his old tricks, and some news ones.

Grants access to added cars and DLC for the game. The best part for me has been the Hot Wheels add-on. Forza Horizon 3 had the same type of DLC for it. The one for Forza Horizon 5 is even better in regards to the track layout and size.
The only down side I can find with this is that while you do get the extra cars/etc., you have to complete some of the steps to access some of the add-on material. So, while FH5 does give you the freedom to drive what you want, where you want, it doesn’t necessarily take into account that some people don’t have the time to drive every mission to unlock everything. Therefore, while you do get the kingdom with this add-on card, you don’t necessarily get the keys to all of it without having to ask Dad if you can borrow it first.
I am glad I picked this up on sale (Black Friday) and did not have to pay full price for it w due to this sort of “progression” limitation aspect to it.

The 4K presentation makes Akira look better than ever before. The sound is better than the previous release. However, I’ve not heard a better presentation than the Japanese Hypersonic version from the 2009 release. If you’ve never heard that version, then the mix with this 4K one may sound better to you than the prior Blu-ray releases. Either way, it’s a great version of Akira.

I have enjoyed some of the older Monster Truck games in the past and picked this one up on sale thinking it might be a bit of fun (blast from the past). Unfortunately, the squirley physics in the game and controls make if more of a challenge than just fun. AI in the game seems to pull off maneuvers at speeds the player cannot keep pace with. If you attempt the exact same maneuvers at those speeds, you are outside the track and/or crashed. I spent more time in the stunt area than anything else in the game and eventually traded it in for something else at a local game store. If you are a hardcore monster truck fan, you may find more to enjoy. But if you are just casually looking for some fun, expect it to dry up pretty soon after the new wears off.

Always enjoyed this film and now it looks even better. Early all of the old jagged edges of previous releases (based upon format limitation) are now gone. Even if you are not an anime fan but enjoy the cyberpunk genre, check it out. See where some of the groundwork was laid for movies like the Matrix series within GITS.

Block out the world and vibrate your brain

My wife and I each owned a pair of the Skullcandy Crusher headphones (prior, non-active noise cancellation version) and really liked them (other than the eventual crack in the plastic where the earpiece is held into place, common issue with that model). These look to be redesigned with a better connection in this area. Add on top of that the ANC feature and your isolated to rattle your brains with the crusher effect included.
The Skullcandy app works with these also to test your hearing and adjust the curve to match your left and right ear ability to hear through different frequency ranges. I also use the EQLZR music app to adjust the EQ to fine tune it even more.
These are a thumbs up for me.
