The original Lego Movie started a great franchise. While the sequel does not equal the first movie, it's a very serviceable sequel. And watching the movie in 3-D definitely elevates the experience. When you consider that Warner Brothers is about the last major studio supporting 3-D releases, this makes it a must buy title.

Solid rom-com

I was initially unfair to the movie. It received a lot of positive reviews so I had oversized expectations for the film, which was a bit unfair. At the end of the day, it's a conventional, well acted, romantic comedy with solid production values. And there were some genuinely moving moments (i.e. stairway, wedding, Astrid-hubby, mahjongg scenes comes to mind), and a couple hilarious lines/moments. And the wife loved the film, so it's a good date movie.
I'm not sure if the transfer used a 4K digital intermediate, but it sure looked like it. It was a sharp, highly detailed transfer with vibrant colors. Sound is a basic 5.1, but adequate for a dialogue heavy movie. I'm a sucker for glorious transfers. Based on the picture quality alone, I'm extremely pleased to have bought it.

Competent but nothing special

It was a nice diversion for a couple hours but the good performances were let down by a dull script. It's a caper movie without much suspense, and the motivations for the the Helena Bonham-Carter and Anne Hathaway characters seemed forced. But, as a huge fan of Sarah Paulson, the movie is worth watching for her performance alone.

Is the end of the road near? I've bought this on VHS, laserdisc, HD DVD and now 4K UHD. I can't imagine this movie ever looking or sounding better. If you're a Kubrick fan, or a fan of great cinema period, this belongs in your collection.
I have read Warner Bros. made an 8K scan of the original negatives. Someday, if there's a successor to 4k UHD, I'll be buying this movie again with pleasure.

ABBA in glorious HDR

It's hard to believe a decade has passed since this hit the theaters. The image quality is very good, though can you imagine how stunning it would be have been with a 4K intermediate? Great songs, great numbers and an appealing cast where Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper hold their own with the heavy hitters.

I missed it while it was playing in the theater and surprised it didn't do better at the box office. It's a very good family movie and my kids loved it. The 3-D is excellent and if you have a 3-D TV (and player), it's a must buy.

Immersive 3-D experience

The movie is pretty average, though the Rock provides his usual appealing screen presence. As for the 3-D experience, I can't recall any pop-out effects, but it was quite immersive and well done, which I tend to prefer anyways.
There's not too many 3-D titles being released stateside anymore so I think Rampage is worth the purchase.
