Given this film was made and released almost 40 years ago, I had serious doubts as to what 4K transfer might do (if anything?) to improve upon the original film production. I am very pleased with what was accomplished with this outstanding reproduction of The Shining on 4K UHD. And, the bonus is one of the coolest-looking cover artwork I’ve seen yet on a SteelBook.

I fully expected this to be a waste of a 4K purchase as 4K technology obviously did not exist when Gremlins was filmed and released way back in 1984. So, I was very pleasantly surprised when transfer to 4K far exceeded what I thought might be possible for both audio and visuals.

Honestly, I expected to be disappointed, yet, took a chance on purchasing this film. I thought in no way could it be comparable to the Shaft I grew up on as a kid. I couldn’t be more wrong, however, and am now writing this recommendation just in case someone other than myself is on the fence about this purchase. A must buy at Best Buy. My only disappointment is that Best Buy did not offer this film title on SteelBook.
