A great retelling of a classic western

Surprised to see a remake of this film, but it works. The story is handled in a more modern way making it more accessible to younger generations. This film is as entertaining as the original with another seven gifted actors to root for.

Once in a long while we are graced with a film that is not only emotional and superbly written, acted, directed, etc., but also put a then unknown Matt Damon in the lead role and comedian Robin Williams as Damon's therapist. Greatest film about Firefighters

It has been a few years since I last viewed this film and although some of the vehicles and tech used in this film make it a little dated (1991), this film is still a tour de force of acting, writing, directing, fire effects, and all else involved. My fiance had never seen it, she was completely engrossed and loved every minute.

If you haven't seen this film...SEE IT! Everthing this film provides is so beautifully executed (pun intended) that it is an emotional journey that stays with you for long after you experience it. All acting is top notch, story is compelling and well written (what else do you expect from Stephen King?), cinematography is beautiful and the music is impeccable. The blu ray has Dolby truehd 5.1 sound and is well done, lots of extra features to watch. This is one film that will always have a place in my library.

Had high hopes for this film but was so disappointed after viewing. Plot is akin to Apocalypse Now in space setting. Acting is good, Pitt & Jones are solid, excellent effects, but the pace of the film will put you to sleep within the first hour. Sorry to all involved who made this film but I can't recommend this one.

I saw this at IMAX in 3D when it was first released and was impressed. Having just received it as a gift years later I gave it another viewing and was blown away by the clarity of the imagery and especially the 3D. The sound is also very well done for DTS 5.1 but would be better in 7.1 or ATMOS. For the 3D and the colorful world of Pandora alone this film belongs in everyone's library.

Excellent 3D, action, acting, story!

Although I am in my 60's, I do love it when a movie can win me over the way Alita: Battle Angel has done. Being that I am not a fan of anything Anime, I was very skeptical to say the least. This one film has made me realize that there are excellent and impressive qualities to this genre.
The 3D blu ray is absolutely something to experience! The story is unique but familiar in ways that reminded me of blade runner, tron, rollerball, and other films that have similar themes. The acting is first rate, Christoph Waltz turns in another stellar performance , as does the entire cast. The CGI is amazing and the action is cleverly executed. James Cameron, Robert Rodriguez, and all involved in the making of this film can hold their heads high with this one. I found this film to be far better than Avitar (story wise) and I eagerly await a sequel. Alas, I am not 4k yet so that review will happen at a later date, but the 3D blu ray is stunning on my Epson 3700 projection system and the DTS 7.1 does its job.

To date, this is the definitive version of all Dracula films. Coppola's vision is a most detailed and intricate journey into the Legend and delivers the creeps and chills this story deserves. From the script, the excellent photography, effects, makeup, music, and sets to the costumes, direction, and the ensemble of perfect actors for their roles, this film captures an authentic ambiance and horrifying look into the vampire's tale. Gary Oldman's portrayal of the Count is so spot on he should have been given a nomination as well as Anthony Hopkins' Van Helsing.
The Atmos sound is absolutely engrossing and perfectly suited to entice goosebumps. Very well done in all aspects.

What are the special features and is there a director's cut available?
There are three special features; From shining to sleep, the making of Doctor Sleep, and Return to the Overlook. The blu ray does include the Director's Cut. Seen both and they are both excellent. More scenes of creepiness in D.C. I do not know what the steelbook has to offer or its availability.
