Both movies were absolutely fantastic. Basic had a really really great twist at the end which I didn't expect. SWAT had a good ending as well, graphics were awesome.
Director Peter Weir's high-seas adventure Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World stars Russell Crowe as Captain Jack Aubrey. Along with his loyal crew, Aubrey engages in a grand game of cat-and-mouse with a renegade French frigate from Napoleon's army. Adapted from the series of novels by Patrick O'Brian, the film is presented on DVD in widescreen with a wealth of audio options. Not only can viewers choose either DTS 5.1 Surround Sound or Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound versions of the original English soundtrack, there are also Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks dubbed in French and Spanish. Along with English and Spanish subtitles, the disc is rounded out by a handful of theatrical trailers. Fans interested in additional supplemental features should check out the two-disc edition that was released simultaneously with this disc. A full-screen version is also available.

Although I am not a fan of these types of movies, I had to watch it because I am a Rooney Mara fan and I was told the it was her performance in this move that got her recognized. I thought she did a gret job.
Catherine (Moore) and David (Neeson), she a doctor, he a professor, are at first glance the perfect couple. Happily married with a talented teenage son, they appear to have an idyllic life. But when David misses a flight and his surprise birthday party, Catherine's long simmering suspicions rise to the surface. Suspecting infidelity, she decides to hire an escort to seduce her husband and test his loyalty. Catherine finds herself 'directing' Chloe's encounters with David, and Chloe's end of the bargain is to report back, the descriptions becoming increasingly graphic as the meetings multiply.

Excellent movie. Steve McQueen is so funny with his dry humor and his bad driving in this movie even though he's a race car driver in real life. A very funny movie.

1987's science fiction/romance/comedy/action Innerspace comes to DVD, with some decent results that will surely please fans. Though the image does occasionally show some grain and signs of wear, those deficiencies are kept in check and the transfer does look surprisingly sharp. The anamorphic 1.85:1 picture displays nice color and generally good detail. Though far from outstanding, there really isn't much to criticize. The sound, on the other hand, isn't very impressive. Remastering a new 5.1 Dolby Digital track was hardly worth the effort. All sound is from the main, front speaker with little use of the sides and virtually no utilization of the surrounds. While dialogue and effects are clear, this type of film could have taken advantage of a far wider sound field, but that simply isn't the case here. In addition to English, there are tracks in French, and strangely enough, Japanese. As for extra material, there is the usual trailer, but more importantly, a wonderfully enthusiastic commentary from director Joe Dante, producer Michael Finnell, costars Kevin McCarthy and Robert Picardo and Visual Effects Supervisor Dennis Murren. They are a lively group, with jokes and interesting facts about the making of the film. Warner can be commended for giving this lesser known film a new life with this nice disc.

One of the best cinematic comic book adaptations, The Rocketeer was supposed to be the summer of 1991's big hit, but the vastly entertaining movie didn't find a big audience. Thankfully, this Walt Disney DVD release gives the fun, exceedingly good-natured movie a proper showcase, and the film has built up a large fan base over the years. Expertly directed by Joe Johnston and shot by Hiro Narita, the DVD looks great in this widescreen letterboxed format, which also shows off James D. Bissel's extravagantly retro production design. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround audio track sounds robust coming out of a stereo system or out of a television set. This edition doesn't come with any worthy DVD extras, but a future edition is sure to point out The Rocketeer's many in-jokes and homages to classic Hollywood films, old rumors, and actual history.

John Carpenter's low-key science fiction drama Starman comes to DVD with a pair of images. The widescreen transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame 1.33:1 image. English, Spanish, and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. Subtitles are accessible in all three of those languages as well. Supplemental materials are limited to theatrical trailers. The highlight of the film -- Jeff Bridges' performance -- works just as well on the small screen as it did in theaters. Considering the quality of the picture and sound and the affordable list price, this is not a bad DVD for the money.
