Not A Bad Budget 4K Player

I'll start by emphasizing that if you can get this player for around $99, then it's definitely worth it!
I grabbed it around Black Friday for that price as part of a sale. There aren't that many budget friendly 4K players on the market right now, so your options are very limited. I would recommend getting a Sony 4K player instead (mainly because of Dolby Vision, but I've heard bad things about them (both budget friendly models and the more pricier ones). Apparently, the Sony players have issues freezing up if you're viewing 50 gig discs (discs with more data). So far, I haven't had any of those issues with the Panasonic DB-150. However, I have had instances of movies/shows freezing up for a few seconds after pausing, then unpausing the disc for any length of time. And I should note that I returned the first Panasonic UB-150 player after a few months because I ran into a freezing issue in the main menu while watching Dexter. So I returned it for a replacement. So far, haven't had any issues with the replacement, but movies will still momentarily freeze after unpausing whatever I am watching.
Not that big of a deal tbh. As far as all around quality goes, both video and audio are good with this player. Unfortunately, there is no Dolby Vision with this model. So even if you have a newer t.v. that supports Dolby Vision, or a Dolby Vision supported disc, you'll only be able to view the 4K in HDR10 (the standard for 4K). If you're able to, I would recommend getting the Panasonic UB-820. It had Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Ntm the build quality is better. But at $500, it's not really affordable atm. And it rarely ever goes on sale. But anyway, hope this review helps some of you that are interested!

Great Budget 4K Player! However...

Nice budget 4K player. Got it on sale for $99 over the holidays. However... I wouldn't have payed full price (almost $200). Supports HDR10 plus and Dolby Atmos, but no Dolby Vision. Also just had to do an exchange for the player. Unit started freezing in the main menu once a disc would finish playing. Would have to eject the disc, and reload. It eventually wouldn't power off or eject the disc unless the unit was unplugged, and plugged back in. Eventually got it to play discs again, but decided to return for a replacement before the temporary return policy was up. I'm guessing it was a faulty unit. Currently awaiting another player. Hopefully this one doesn't do the same thing. Aside from that, the video looks great once the settings are dialed in. Worth it on sale, but not full price.

Only Worth It When It Works

Sounded pretty good when it functioned properly, but started having sound drop issues with the subwoofer and satellite speakers after a day or so. I'm assuming the transmission from the sub to the receiver is faulty. My girlfriend has the same setup, but her system recently started doing the same thing as mine after 2 years of her owning it. I'm assuming just cheaply made parts. Needless to say, I took it back

Solid Budget Receiver

After using it for the last few months, I can safely say that it's worth the money! However, it does have it's quirks. For example... I had an issue with it cutting back on after 3-5 minutes after powering the unit off. So I ended up having to turn off the HDMI control setting so the system isn't randomly turning back on (seemed to do the trick). I guess the other devices are interfering with it somehow. Even turned the bluetooth off on both the receiver and other devices, but that didn't seem to work. Also had an issue where it will sometimes randomly change to another audio input setting on the receiver when changing the t.v. audio input (on my Sony t.v.), back to the receiver audio setting. There's also a long delay (20-30 seconds) on the receiver when cutting it back on (because I'll often just switch to the t.v. speakers late at night so it's not loud when watching t.v.). All in all I would recommend. Plenty of sound settings, and tons of customization on the receiver. Although it will take you awhile to get used to it if you're a novice with newer audio receivers. Thinking about taking this one back seeing as it may be defective. Or, these particular Yamaha receivers might just have bugs.

Took It Back

Good build quality with the unit. However, the surround sound on this model is very faint and lifeless. Even when using the equalizer to fade the audio all the way to the back satellite speakers. Everything else about this unit was fine. After taking 2 different model soundbars back, I realized that maybe soundbar setups weren't for me (especially budget ones). Wound up getting a 5.1 Yamaha receiver instead, and will build on that over time. Unless you're getting a top of the line make and model, these entry level soundbars are way too finicky

My girlfriend has the same soundbar, and it sounds pretty good for the price point. However, mine had issues with the subwoofer cutting in and out, and eventually, the surround started doing the same thing. I even tried moving the subwoofer and the satellite surround receiver around, but both kept doing the same thing. So it wasn't electrical interference or any other issue. Just a bad unit I guess.

Can this item be mounted on a wall?
Not really. I suppose you could use some sort of strap or mesh fabric to put over it to hold it in place, then screw it to the wall. But not sure why you'd want to - the controllers would just fall out unless you have it horizontal. You can probably buy some sort of plant mounting rig stand to drill into the wall. Then I suppose you could set your charging dock on there, but you'd still have to make sure you have enough cord to plug it in, or have an extension cable handy
