This tense, intelligent sci-fi thriller gets an upgrade on DVD that should please the film's fans. The Andromeda Strain has been given a letterboxed transfer to disc in the widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1, which has been enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors. The original audio mix has been preserved in Dolby Digital Mono; the dialogue is in English, with optional subtitles in Spanish and French, and closed captions in English. As a bonus, this release includes a short documentary on the making of the film, a profile of author Michael Crichton (who wrote the novel that was the basis for the screenplay), and the movie's original trailer.
