watched San Andreas for my class on natural hazards and disasters. I payed special attention for disaster movie stereotypes and information, then decided if this would be realistic or not based off what I have learned so far in my class. San Andreas is an epic tale of The Rock (Ray Gaines) saving his family during the largest earthquakes ever recorded in history. Being aptly prepared for his task through his time in the marines as well as being the LAFD search and rescue helicopter pilot, he manages incredibly dangerous natural hazards. Not only does the Rock (Ray) rescue his ex-wife from a collapsing skyscraper due to an earthquake but performs incredible feats such as safely landing a crashing helicopter, rides a tsunami wave like a surfer, and saves his daughter in fantastic fashion. Some of my favorite scenes include when The Rock pilots his rescue helicopter, such as in the opening scene. I also enjoyed the skydiving scene, as The rock was very non-chalant about the whole ordeal. Some of the scenes that I found to have interesting “believability” factor would be the Hoover Dam earthquake scene, the whole Caltech storyline, and the tsunami scene in San Francisco. In the Hoover Dam scene, I enjoyed the instance where before the dam breaks, you can see an emergency release of water. I believe this might happen as the dam seeks to maintain an appropriate pressure. However, this believability dissipates quickly as the main scientist stands literally feet away from the broken dam as literal tons of water woosh past him. I think the whole Caltech storyline was a bit hokey, as they found a foolproof way to predict earthquakes through aa precursor magnetic fault. This is just blatantly not true but makes sense insofar as the main plotline. I also think the tsunami scene in san Francisco is hilariously over exaggerated. I was laughing super hard when The Rock rode the tsunami wave like a surfer in his boat. Many of the action scenes I feel are made to be more fun to watch rather than scientifically accurate. If the world’s largest earthquake had hit California, I do not doubt the massive destruction it would cause, and the temporary collapse of society on the west coast would certainly occur. However, I do not think that we would be able to predict and notify the public like they do in this movie. It would be a tragic event that the world would remember. However, I feel that maybe the earth would not split open like in the movie, nor there be mountain tall tsunami waves. One thing I think the movie did a good job depicting however is the role of heroes. I believe people will step up in times of crisis just like The Rock did. If I had one takeaway from this movie, it’s the importance of being a first responder and taking action.

This game is everything I wanted it to be and more. The fast & snappy combo gameplay on top of the crisp, smooth sounds make this game so satisfying to play. The game also has a sick amount of style and steez, making the skating experience that much better even though it’s not a realistic skating game. Remarkable graphics. I love the amount of options you have in create a skater and create a park. I’ve been hooked onto THUG Pro for a while and wanted to switch things up a bit and this game hasn’t disappointed me yet. You can play community made parks & upload your own parks online, which brings endless fun and possibility to this game. I am hoping for more updates on the game in the future and more skaters. My only complaints on this game are the lack of special tricks, you can’t get off your board (I understand they want to stay true to the original series) and online connectivity issues. Other than that the game is still a ton of fun.

From the jungle of Vietnam to the streets of Moscow this game is the best black ops I've played in years. The campaign is an amazingly well crafted story in my opinion enough to beat MW2. Zombies was worrisome but turns out to be a really fun time, but only having one full map is somewhat of a drag. Multiplayer is honestly better than most would like to believe. The guns feel great and the gameplay is just plain fun and chaotic! The game has it's flaws and with and is a little lacking in content, but with season one's release we get 8 new map (including raid from bo2) a new battle royal experience, and a plethora of new multiplayer modes including 2v2 gunfight!
Pros: Fun combat and realistic tone map design doesn't benefit campers exceptional zombies experience with extra modes if you get bored fun and engaging campaign with massive replay-ability the game is being updated constantly as glitches are being fixed With the launch of season one split-screen has been fixed and there is a lot more content for you to grind and be entertained for hours
Cons: Grinding is a little more difficult and most camos aren't worth it occasional buggy Miami is by far the most aesthetically pleasing but is to large for 6v6, shame Some weapons are unbalance
Deep in the Appalachians, a group of hipster hikers decided to diverge off their trail in search of a legendary Civil War fort. That proved to be an unwise move, as it brought them into territory that a survivalist cult has laid claim to since the 1850s... and they don't have a lot of tolerance for visitors. Intense sequel/reboot for the fear franchise, written by original InchWrong TurnInch scribe Alan McElroy, stars Charlotte Vega, Adain Bradley, Emma Dumont, Dylan McTee, Daisy Head, Bill Sage, and Matthew Modine. Decent body count with some good kills (girl - axe - tree) Good acting - something you can't actually say about most films in this series - a strong lead and some characters you actually care about. A good pace to it and you generally don't know who is gonna be killed - never thought they would kill off Eliza tho - so it has a decent amount of tension and surprises. storyline? There is none, bunch of people just get picked off 1 by 1 by deformed cannibal hillbillies in the woods and it's a cay and mouse game. Not exactly scary but it tries to be. Prob the least amount of gore tho compared to the rest of series.
Yeah I would recommend it if you want a slasher horror. Just leave your brain at the door and get the popcorn.

What Spielberg, Cruise, and Koepp accomplish here in the first two acts is nothing short of revolutionary. They've made a big-budget summer blockbuster about massive destruction and action that manages to studiously avoid every cliché and expectation of such films. It stays resolutely on the characters' points of view, showing us almost nothing they don't see, even to the point of coming tantalizingly close to a raging battle, then avoiding showing it. It keeps its focus on character instead of spectacle. The "hero" of the piece remains decidedly unheroic, wanting only to escape, and trying to talk others out of fighting back. The purpose of every piece of action is to frighten and disturb rather than thrill, making ingenious use of familiar 9/11 imagery. At the end of the second act, it is hands-down the best alien invasion film ever made, and perhaps one of the best sci-films of all time.
Then something strange happens. The filmmakers lose their nerve, and remember that this is an extremely expensive summer film financed by two studios. Or perhaps it was the fact that it stars Tom Cruise, who up to this point has spent almost two hours doing nothing but run for his life. Suddenly, and tragically, the film changes, violating not only its carefully established tone, but its own internal logic. Suddenly, Cruise begins to act like a hero, and summer action clichés force their way into the story like a worm into an apple. The transition is jarring, and it creates a serious disconnect from the story.
While it's true that Wells' original ending creates a problem for a movie, here they try to remain faithful to it, while still shoehorning moments of triumph into the conclusion. Unfortunately, these moments come off as alternately false, unbelievable, and meaningless, since it isn't mankind that defeats the invaders in the end.
Is it recommendable? Well, I suppose that depends on what kind of viewer you are. If you feel that 75% brilliant material overshadows the 25% that falls apart, then you'll enjoy it. If, however, you're the kind of viewer who feels that the final impression a movie makes is its ultimate stamp on your memory, you may be in for a crushing disappointment. On the other hand, if you're the kind of viewer who just likes the cliché of the boom-boom summer action spectacle, you're likely to be bored and frustrated with the first two acts, and only engage in the end. It is confused about what audience it's trying to reach, and consequently, isn't likely to satisfy any of them.
The Mayan calendar's end-of-the-world prophecy offers InchIndependence DayInch producer-director Roland Emmerich more chances to destroy landmarks in this effects-filled blockbuster, as natural disasters sweep the globe and rip divorced dad Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) away from his Yellowstone vacation. Racing against the doomsday clock, Curtis attempts to retrieve his family and find at least one place on Earth impregnable to Armageddon. Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor co-star. 158 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Three-disc set.

While I was cautioned against reviewing this particular disaster film, I still enjoyed most of this movie. This work employed a monstrous amount of CGI and visual effects to complete the disaster scenes. This was accompanied by very cliche acting scenes and a large amount of drama that catered to a very unlikely plot. The odds of the protagonists making it out of every situation with as little casualties as they had is mind boggling to me. The way that they portray the earthquake reactions is very alarming because the frequency of California’s earthquakes and their small seismic tremors leading to the world ending disaster is very confusing and misleading in the way that they didn’t portray the public outcry in a larger magnitude. The signs that the Earth was undergoing major environmental changes were there for everyone in California to see before the leading scientist had a chance to convince the president. The way that the ships were kept under such secrecy is very unbelievable to me but this movie was filmed in 2009 so they probably did not take into account how intrusive and widespread the internet is now. This movie just in general has a lot of inconsistencies and probably contributed to a lot of the hype around the media’s portrayal and public opinion surrounding the mayan calendar and their culture. There was a lot of drama throughout the film due to many family dynamics that helped add to the excitement of the disaster footage. For these disasters to seem feasible, a lot would have to go wrong within our environment very quickly to capture the public’s opinion and bring attention to possible explanations like the Sun’s neutrino emissions. Overall, this was a long and mostly entertaining movie with a lot of special effects and crazy scenes from a real life doomsday.

The true mark of greatness in a motion picture is its rewatchability and this film is as great now as it was when released in theaters in 1975. John William's score is legendary and instantly recognizable. The music for this film is astounding and perfectly sets the mood of every scene. Though it was hyped as a horror movie it's really an adventure drama as 3 very different characters come together to hunt a great white shark that's terrorizing a fictional New England resort island of amity. All the actors were fantastic from Roy Schieder in the lead role as police chief Brodie to Murray Hamilton as the smarmy mayor who only see's $ and not public saftey. Dreyfuss was the weak link of the 3 leads, but,he actually did pretty good in this as Matt Hooper the oceanographic institute shark expert brought in by Brodie to verify the obvious. It is now that I mention what makes this movie great and not just very good,Robert Shaw as Quint. His character is larger than life and he dominates every scene he's in,it is a performance so grand so mesmerizing and ultimately so memorable that I often forgot about the shark.lol There is a scene in this film near the end, that imo, remains both magical and heartbreaking and I'm referring to the USS Indianapolis speech Quint gives explaining to Brodie and Hooper(and the audience)the real life events of its sinking and the gruesome week long shark attacks that occurred to the men in the ocean. It is the films scariest moment,it involves no gore,no jump scares,or cgi effects, simply a great actor delivering the greatest monologue in cinema history. I don't know what histories greatest film is,its a subjective judgement but, clearly Jaws is amongst them.

My favourite movie of all time, I have seen it so much I can quote the whole movie and Tom cruise again doesn’t play his character he becomes it. It starts off a little slow at the start but it’s a journey of maverick and his love story with Charlie and how he lives his life and when goose dies that’s when everything starts to go up a bunch and your on the edge of your seat of how maverick will return after losing his co pilot and best friend and learn to just go on. After the ending with the dogfight it’s so heart warming when him and iceman make up and they all hug it out. Then at the end Charlie plays you’ve lost that loving feeling easily best song in the movie maybe danger zone or take my breath away is in their, but anyways they talk about how he crashed and burned on the first and how the second is looking good so far just like when they first met in the bar and then the music at the end with all the cast and I miss goose every time I watch this movie, but it was almost needed for maverick to reach his full potential and I can’t wait for Top Gun 2 to come out I am so hyped for it and if you haven’t seen this movie or you don’t like it then you really need to rethink your life because this movie has changed my life and is my favourite movie of all time by far not even a change with anything else. Finally, the way maverick is with his cockiness is his personality and when he learns how to be a great pilot and a humble man is the great part about the movie. They want you to know that no matter what obstacles you face in life, you will have people to support you even if you don’t believe so and you will get through any hard time because you are not the first person to ever face that hardship. Just look out to those for help because everyone needs a little help sometimes. God bless and #gooseliveson ❤️
Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of The Godfather Part III, director/screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola brings a definitive new edit and restoration of the final film in his epic Godfather trilogy-Mario Puzo's THE GODFATHER, Coda The Death of Michael Corleone. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), now in his 60s, seeks to free his family from crime and find a suitable successor to his empire. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)... but he may also be the spark that turns Michael's hope of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence. The film's meticulously restored picture and sound, under the supervision of American Zoetrope and Paramount Pictures, includes a new beginning and ending, as well as changes to scenes, shots, and music cues. The resulting project reflects author Mario Puzo and Coppola's original intentions of The Godfather Part III, and delivers, in the words of Coppola, Incha more appropriate conclusion to The Godfather and The Godfather Part II.Inch

Francis Ford Coppola's films spanned 20 years in the making and gave us many memorable characters and a glimpse into the horrors of the Mafia. But the movie, in my opinion, deserves better reviews. Mostly the complaints of the critics are upon the fact that the movie doesn't seem to work as a standalone and Sophia Coppola's acting is bad, but considering someone watching today, in a world governed by movie franchises built in reference to predecessor movies, this argument falls flat. As for the latter, i do agree that her acting in acts1 and 2 were flat, but she quickly made up in the 3rd act.
What i really want to talk about is Al Pacino and Diane Keaton's chemistry. I couldn't help but praise these veterans' skills as an actor. They both bring out the vulnerabilities and hope in their relationship whether they are together. At the end when Mary dies and they both fall to their daughter's lifeless body, we experience 2 moments in cinema which, in my opinion, is one of the rarest display of traumatic emotions i have ever seen. From Kay's immediate realisation to Michael's hope that her daughter may still be alive; from Kay rushing to get daughter's body to Michael letting out the roar of agony as he realises that the worst he feared has happened, the thing he fought to do the most (keeping his family safe) has been taken away from him; from this scream to Kay's enraged look towards Michael as she blames it o him, the worst she feared for her children has happened. And then the montage of Michael's life to Michael's death, is simply one of the best endings i have seen in cinema.
I think this movie is much better than the reviews painted it to be!

Going from a cord used for charging to this charging station has been revolutionary!
It's not as convenient as it could be simply because you cannot charge and use the controller at the same time like you can with a charging cable. If you have 2 controllers though, that shouldn't be an issue at all! I leave one controller on the charging station at all times (there's an intermediate 'setting' on the dock which lets you set the controller within the docking cradle, but not set it far enough down to initiate charging) while I use the other controller. With the amount of life that one controller gives, I can fully charge the other controller a few times over and just switch them out when the one I'm using gets low!
It's a basic thin, plastic base which feels cheap-ish, but that's negligible to the amount of use you get out of it! It prevents you from having to plug your wireless controller in to charge. It gets rid of the unsightly/annoying cord draped over your lap. It looks sleek while also being useful!
How-to: Set your Ps4 controller into one of the cradles. Push the controller down into the cradle until you hear/feel a solid 'click'. If you do it right, the controller's light bar will start pulsing a dim yellow/orange to let you know it's charging. When charging is complete, the light bar will no longer pulse. To release: Push down on the controller again and you will hear/feel another click and will be able to lift the controller out of the station.
Pros: Controller light bar will pulse a gentle yellow/orange while charging to let you know it's working Can hold a controller without having to charge it (see above notes) Looks good next to the Ps4! Charges your controller within an hour or two and lets you get back to gaming quick! There's a slight divot in each cradle that has an indication as to where the 'PS' button will go to make lining up easy Has a notch on the bottom for the cord so it sits evenly on the table
Cons: Relatively cheap material Doesn't have an extra 'hook' for headphone storage
