Sonos! Wow!

I must state that my expectations were high when purchasing the Arc, because I was looking to replace a seven thousand dollar full on 5.1 system that I've owned for several years. I was growing tired of my old system because of the clutter, cables, wires and dust that they all collected. I auditioned the Samsung Q80R Soundbar initially and it was quite good with bass and spatial awareness, but many details were lost in a heavy movie soundtrack. It developed several technical issues and I returned it. I had read so many good reviews about Sonos, so I backordered the Arc. I waited several weeks and was very excited when I received the notification that it had arrived. When I picked it up in the store, I also purchased 2 SL One's and a Gen 3 Sub. I rushed home to hook it up to my Samsung 75 inch TV with EARC, and was blown away with how intuitive the Sonos S2 App was with setting everything up. I must state that I don't have the ideal room for Atmos as it has vaulted ceilings and is an open floorplan to the kitchen. I fired up the system with a 4K blu ray with Dolby Atmos and the following was my experience. I was blown away with the small details that emanated from the Arc and the SL One's. The Sub was a little underwhelming, but I attributed that to the open floorplan and the fact that I had became accustomed to a 2,000 watt 18 inch Velodyne Subwoofer. I was also underwhelmed by a lack of height from the Arc's upfiring drivers, but I never had any faith in the reviews where people said they heard height effects from 2 reflecting drivers. But where the beauty was revealed in this system was the level of immersion between the Arc and the SL One's. I watched about 20 4K blu ray's with Atmos over the course of a week and never experienced any height effects whatsoever. When I learned that Sonos had issued a firmware update that allowed the use of dual subs, I rushed to my local Best Buy and purchased another Gen 3 Sub. Now the puzzle started to come together. The bass became so tactile, almost as much as I had become accustomed to with my Velodyne. When I realized that I had made the right decision was when watching John Wick in Atmos and in the opening funeral scene where it was raining, I actually felt as if the rain was showering from the ceiling. I immediately popped in my blu ray of the Invisible Man in Atmos and fast forwarded to the rain scenes and was even more blown away. It literally sounded like I was in the middle of a thunderstorm in my living room. The only thing I could deduce from these experiences was that Atmos really shined with atmospheric sounds, but whatever the reason I was finally 100 percent satisfied. I had actually put together a wireless system with insanely tactile bass, an immersive experience with the SL One's and the icing on the cake was the occasional dramatic height effects. The main drawback is that I had over 2,500 dollars invested in this system. Could I have put together a better traditional system for less money, absolutely! But would it have been as simplistic with no cables, absolutely not! After it is all said and done, my old 5.1 system has already been partially sold on Craigslist. Sorry for the long winded review, but I wanted everyone to be able to read an honest opinion on the Sonos Ecosystem to make an informed buying decision.
