I don't think so. If the stereo has XM you should be good. I added an onyx XM unit to my fiance's truck. It sends the signal over the air and she dials in to an fm channel on the stereo. Without this adapter any strong FM signals will overpower her XM. This goes in between your stereo antenna and the stereo via the fm antenna Jack. Now, when I power up the XM device, it injects the signal right into the stereo with a built in amplifier. When she turns XM off, it shuts off the xm signal and allows normal antenna reception.
