Classic now on 4K

Finally, they have released a version that captures the movie's amazing visuals as they should be. The 4K HDR format allows for the colors to come through as intended. Vibrant without being artificial. My player doesn't currently support Dolby Vision, but the HDR10 format was fantastic. Whatever they did to remaster this to match a Blu-ray/ 1080p look is nothing short of incredible. Some of the scenes do show some jitter between the foreground (not in focus) and the main stage (example- at the Colosseum) but those distractions are minor and the rest is very well presented. Having always watched the Extended version (previous DVD standard format), I opted to watch this disc on the Theatrical version (20 minutes shorter) and I found there were scenes not in the extended version or not the same. A great movie that always entertains.

I'm not really sure what I can say about this movie. If you haven't seen it before, you're doing yourself a huge disservice. There's absolutely no reason at all not to re-buy this movie again in 4K. It looks outstanding still to this day, with some great special FX that still hold up. Tom Hanks is undeniably wonderful in this film, and he's surrounded by excellent supporting actors like Gary Sinise. If you haven't seen this movie, it's truly a classic for a reason. I always kind of forget how it ends because it's such a wonderful journey and ends so beautifully. It's definitely a movie that should stand the test of time and remain an all-time great for years to come. This is one of my favorite movies of all-time and it's never looked better!

Disappointing entry to VR.

Let me start off with a warning, this headset DOES NOT WORK with Samsung phones if you have a CASE on it. This was an exploratory purchase for seeing if VR was something worth investing more money in. I can definitely say that this headset has not left a good impression. While I was able to experience the VR effect using them, the headset itself along with securing your phone in it, is unwieldy and flaky. The lenses are plastic and one fell out after two uses. It will not stay secured in the eye socket now. The straps slip on my head and the little controller is useless. The controller worked for a couple times and was only useful in moving the cursor around the screen. Even then, it was hard to select things on screen. Don't waste your money on this one. Maybe there are other intro level headsets that are better. I might check out the Zeiss product.
If you really want to get into VR, then you will need to spend more money on the equipment to avoid disappointment.

Stunning but short.

As usual, BBC delivers on this nature film. It is a little short, at just 40 minutes. One of my favorite parts was actually one of the bonus features that talked about becoming a marine biologist/oceanographer. That is what my high-school-aged son is thinking about for a career path, so I was happy to show him the film in tandem with a little guidance on how to get to be one of these lucky scientists.
As for the technical aspects, the 4K HDR is striking. From the opening shot of the ocean waves, you know you're in for a treat. Some of the footage was captured for other documentaries like BLUE PLANET II, but not shown. For example, the footage of the octopus using shells to disguise itself from the shark is in here, although the footage shown is a bit different. The audio is only DTS-HD 5.1 rather than immersive Dolby Atmos or DTS-X, which is disappointing, but it does sound good. Recommended if you can find it at $15 or less.

Good movie, not as good as the 1st

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Pacific Rim movie because it was unapologetic about being a 'giant robots vs. giant monsters' film that looked beautiful and didn't have to be thought about too hard. The sequel, although not as great overall as the first film, isn't terrible to me. It's a good contrast to the first film in that we get to see the Jeagers in daylight most of the time, even though they kind of look like giant robotic power rangers. I enjoy the little bits of comedy and the demonstrations of the different levels of society post-kaiju war. I really only have one big issue with this movie. The way the final mega-kaiju is killed is kind of ... meh. I get it, they let it fall out of the sky like a 275ft tall bullet, but it just felt sub-par to me. I would have appreciated a little more added grit like the final fights in the first movie (the new gadgets that the Jeagers had were fun to watch, but I think they showed them off a bit too much, whereas the first movie tried to show off all the details of each fight). Great picture and sound on the 4K release

Endless Color Options for Every Mood

Love it! The KASA App is awesome. I’ve had no headaches with any of my smart plugs and now with the smart bulb I’m all in with TP Link and the KASA App, an app with endless customization options (like schedule and scenes). The app is easy to use, the bulb is easy to setup, and I have had no issues whatsoever so far. I programmed the bulb to turn on to a specific color just before my alarm goes off in the morning, and to brighten as my alarm goes off. This bulb has been a total game changer in my morning and night routines. The color options have such variety, and it is nice to have in a closet or bedroom setting. You won't regret buying this.
