Look, these are heirloom items. They are not a "used up in a year" item and no one wants later in life. These are a permanent fixture in a "cooks" kitchen and they (Kitchen Aid) are some of the best at it. This item is well made, heavy duty, could be used commercially kind of well built. I’m donating my old system and did not want someone hooking it up wrong and having electrical problems or worse, a fire. The set came with the rubber lines, but go with the stainless steel braided option. The braided hoses are less prone to bursting and chafing. Ever watched your hoses move while your machine opens/closes the valves for water? Well, they move. If it is tight quarters, like most washrooms, they can get a hole rubbed in them and cause water damage to your home. Plus, these systems now days are expensive; they are worth difference in the price.

I don’t really think these are necessary, but a good investment to protect your home. Ever had water damage? It’s terrible and can cause many problems including to your health and well being. The stainless steel braided lines are extra protection against wear and chafing of your lines.
