Insignia's new line of surge protectors are excellent. I love the new look across all their new white surge protectors as they are not only minimal and low key, but also provides unique design functionality. This desktop surge protector for example sits on top of your desk for easy access to outlets and USB ports.
Also included is a desk clamp to keep the surge protector stable, which is a nice addition, however I opted not to install it as I find it weighty enough that it doesn't move around on my desk. The blue LED light is also subtle and not blinding like some surge protector lights are.
If there is something I would have liked here is that I would have preferred at least one of the three outlets to be spaced out by itself on the far right to allow for a large power adapter without getting in the way of the other outlets, while moving the three USB ports to the lower half.

Solid Dolby Atmos Sound Bar that is Simple To Use

The SN8YG is a 3.1.2 sound bar that supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and also uses Meridian Audio to help fine-tune LG’s sound bars with advanced signal processing. The SPK8-S speaker kit expands the SN8YG to a true 5.1.2 system. Setting up the additional speakers was seamless and instant. No issues here.
It sports the same exact design and dimensions from last year, which is a sleek, brushed dark gray metal aluminum finish that perfectly matches LG's 2019-2020 OLED TVs. The SN8YG measures 41.7” long, 2.2” tall and 4.7” deep. The metal grill finely wraps around the sides in smoothly rounded edges, while discreet, touch buttons line horizontally on the top. The remote is also quite simple to use with large buttons.
eARC support is new for the SN8YG, and allows it to receive lossless content straight from a Dolby Atmos supported TV, as well as any other connected devices to that TV. I’m happy to say it works perfectly.
The SN8YG is also Google Voice and Chromecast compatible. I'm not a Google user myself but the 'LG Wi-Fi Speaker' app for iOS or Android is where the SN8YG can be remotely controlled and where firmware updates are downloaded. This requires a Wi-Fi connection, although the app seems quite lackluster and poor in quality, considering it's 1.5 star review for iOS.
Sound quality is amazing and detailed with a very convincing sound field. In Blade Runner 2049, the rooftop rain scene where K and Joi are having a moment, occasional drops of water falling on metal from above the frame are produced only in the up firing drivers and gives a sense of added height into the scene. As for the low end, the subwoofer is impressive and punchy. ‘The Outpost’ precisely jolts you with every single round being fired from atop the Hum-Vee mounted machine guns. Mortor rounds and RPG explosions sound rich and powerful yet the low end doesn’t mask or muddy the mix.
I’ve always had problems with the center channel in past LG sound bars, but it's definitely much improved here, although the problem is still slightly apparent in older content, while newer movies and TV shows are very clear. The most balanced sound field comes from Dolby Atmos content. Castlevania on Netflix is audio nirvana. The dialogue is crisp and untampered with, while bone crunches, whip snaps, magic summons, and crumbling rock are discreetly sent to the proper channels.
The SN8YG is a solid Dolby Atmos sound bar that is very simple to use. I highly recommend it for home theater sound. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

The smaller LG OLED TV I've been waiting for!

As a current owner of the C9 55”, I was very excited to finally get this year's new CX 48” OLED 4K TV, which is now the smallest OLED TV that LG offers. It has become our new master bedroom TV and takes everything I loved about the C9 and shrinks it down to a more compact package that is better sized for the room. It's also small enough to fit on desks and should be popular among PC gamers too.
The CX adopts the same identical form factor and stand as the C9, with a razor thin display at the top half of the set and a stand that comes in a beautiful dark gray, brushed metal finish that matches LG’s Atmos sound bars. And WebOS has gotten better too. I found it easier to navigate as it's both sleeker looking, and simpler to use.
But I can’t say enough how impressed I am with the OLED display and picture quality. The smaller 48" size has increased pixel density, which makes for a tad more crisp and finer picture than on the 55”. Of course there is Dolby Vision (as well as HDR10 and HLG) support. Dolby Vision IQ automatically adjusts picture brightness based on ambient lighting conditions of the room and the third generation Alpha 9 processor promises to improve upscaling. A much welcomed feature is the new 'Filmmaker' mode. Turning this on should automatically turn off certain features such as TruMotion and other picture settings when detecting film content so to display the picture as the filmmaker originally intended. This automation may however require the studio to tag the content accordingly though.
For sound, the CX expectedly supports Dolby Atmos, so if you have an e-ARC enabled Sound Bar or AV receiver, you’ll expand your sound stage with up-firing audio content (assuming you have speakers for that). AirPlay 2 and HomeKit are supported which is awesome for Apple users. I've added both my C9 and CX to the Home App, and saying "Hey Siri, turn on master bedroom TV" will turn on my entire setup.
As a gaming display, I was very impressed with the C9 's game mode that delivers low input lag and <1 ms response time when playing with Nintendo Switch. The CX delivers the same performance but for more hardcore gamers, LG adds AMD FreeSync alongside Nvidia G-Sync and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) that can output 120FPS at 4K over HDMI 2.1, as well as HGiG for improved HDR support.
The CX improves on the C9 and expands OLED to a wider audience than ever before. And I am very happy to say that the CX 48" is the best TV I've ever owned.

Rich Dolby Vision HDR color marred by blooming!

To preface this review, I am an owner of the Nano 8 series and love that TV. Just like this year's new SM9000, it too features Nano Cell technology which uses LED local dimming. By dimming areas of the picture that are dark while lighting up the parts of the picture that are meant to be bright, LG's "NanoCell" technology makes for incredible contrast ratios and deeper blacks, but it also introduces a problematic side effect: blooming. Naturally, I was very ecstatic to get my hands on the new 2019 NanoCell 9 but unfortunately, the new and improved "Full Array Local Dimming", or "FALD", unintentionally introduces even noticeable blooming because of the result of introducing more LED lights in the display.
You should know that FALD features hundreds of mini LED lights behind the panel that work in "zones". Essentially, it works much the same way as local dimming but promises more accurate LED lighting because there are more zones behind the screen. But having multiple zones of these LED lights behind the set continuously dims and brightens the content and causes blooming around any areas in the content that are bright. And because there are much more LED lights working behind the display, the blooming just seems that much more apparent. The result in watching a partially lit shot are obvious splashes of light that bleed all over the place. Alas, there is a way to stop the blooming! It involves turning down or completely off the "LED local dimming" setting, but there's also a side effect to that as well: blacks become very grayish and you lose your high contrast ratios. In the end, there was too many compromises to be had and all this blooming because intolerable to me. I couldn't resist and ultimately purchased the OLED C9 which next to the NanoCell 9, trumps it in contrast ratio with absolute zero blooming.
Now even though I am opting for the OLED and that you would think that this review is an entirely negative take on the 2019 NanoCell 9, it isn't really the case. This LCD excels in truly rich colors. Dolby Vision content on my Apple TV makes for truly realistic and vibrant colors. Watching brightly lit content with lots of light in the room makes this LCD set strikingly attractive. Any one of Apple's 4K daytime aerial screensavers delivers a knockout image in color richness and clarity. Watching Netflix's "Our Planet" shows vast landscapes and animal fur such as the mythical Syberian Tiger in very rich vibrant color. The brightly neon lit holographic adverts of futuristic LA in Blade Runner 2049 in 4K from iTunes is stunning and blends colors like pinks and purples euphorically. And I personally don't watch sports, but I would imagine the outdoor fields would look glorious. Other future proofing positives include Dolby Atmos, AirPlay 2, eARC, and WiSA support (I am personally very excited for this one!). It has a7 Gen 2 processor, unlike the more advanced a9 in the OLED, but it should still be great smoothing out gradient color banding, and you have also have an extremely low latency which is perfect for gaming.
So what's the big takeaway from this? The blooming sucks and tolerance for it will vary from user to user. I disliked it enough to spend double the amount for an OLED to replace this. You can get away with really liking this LCD if you like to mostly watch TV mostly during the day. Also if you simply can't rationalize spend a lot more. Otherwise, this is a spectacular LCD that is very future proofed. However, if you do watch a lot of content at night and you are willing to spend more, than I cannot recommend highly enough to go for the OLED.

Colors are more true-to-life and not as exaggerate as an OLED.
The blacks can get fairly inky with local dimming turned on.
Input response is good.
Sound is good.
Displays SDR video really well.
Viewing angle is not so good, especially in the dark.

The biggest issue I have with this TV, is that it the blooming is OBNOXIOUS and extremely distracting!
Running the local dimming test, it looks like there are 4 massive vertical zones across the screen (each zone seems to have it's own uniformity issues), but could not detect any horizontally. The zones are so big that the blooming lights up nearly 1/4 of the screen, creating thick bands of bad uniformity between light and dark.
Turning off Local Dimming and turning down the Backlight mitigates some of it, but at the cost of blacks turning to milky grey and colors losing vibrancy.
If you watch a lot of horror movies like I do or you watch TV in the dark, this is a TERRIBLE VIEWING EXPERIENCE.
I would not buy this TV again and I hope Best Buy will allow me to return it.
Also, if you play Red Dead Redemption 2, the game looks really bad on this TV, but other games like Mortal Kombat, XCom 2 looked decent...

Blooming made me get the OLED TV

I was pretty annoyed by the blooming as well. Either have massive amounts of blooming or watch with gray blacks. Not a good compromise. Watching at night is very distracting indeed.

Despite the high prices, LG soundbars are junk. My subwoofer died in the warranty period. LG product support keeps promising to send boxes to have it shipped to a repair facility. It's been 3 weeks and despite multiple attempts, nothing. They won't acknowledge emails

The subwoofer on my SN8YG just died, just 4 months after the warranty period expired. I was told I would be contacted about repairs within 2-3 business days and I'm on day 4 with still no word. I love LG products when they work, but once things break down and comes the time to deal with their customer support, buyer definitely beware!

LG doesn't honor warranty and this product is crap. I've tried multiple times to get my dead subwoofer repaired for 3 weeks. LG support is terrible. They keep promising to send boxes to get it repaired and I've received nothing.

I'm sorry that you're going through this. I just experienced this first hand just now whilst communication with their Twitter support. I contacted them a week ago and they were happy to set up a repair ticket for me in which they said LG would contact me within 2-3 days. One week later and nothing. Yesterday they said they would escalate the issue and to wait 48 more hours. And still nothing. I haven't even gotten a call or a shipping label. LG customer support is absolutely terrible!!

Ordered TV but now worried about watching tv/movies in the dark. Is anybody having issues with this??
I am. I posted a review and should be up soon but the blooming is indeed annoying when watching in the dark. Check out the photo I attached to see how bad "LED local dimming" is when turned to maximum. I went ahead and got the OLED to replace the SM9000 and I couldn't be happier.
