Great Modern Chromebook & Upgrade

I got last year's model for my daughter and was rather impressed with it. I know for myself that I would want the spec bump that the 2024 model offers. Being a Pixel 9 user in a home that has a lot of google integration the Gemini features were wanted and this model certainly offers that.
I was looking to upgrade from 2018's Pixelbook Go which has served me quite well for 7 years now but was showing it's age. Chromebooks have come a long way in terms of features in recent years and this line seemed to be getting a lot of positive reviews and word of mouth.
I wanted something that I could work on and multi taks with. The DDR5 RAM is much faster than DD4 and the Ultra 5 115U has great speed.
The flip features are really nice even if I dont anticipate needing them very often.
Overall, if you want a speedy chromebook with modern specs, this is a great option.
The only thing I would change, personally, would be to make 16GB of RAM the base offering in 2024. This is not Acer's fault, per se, as the standard is 8GB. But as we move into the future 16GB will be more and more useful, especially in keeping the machine "fast" for 5 years or more.
One other small item might be moving the USB-C ports to only the left side. For me personally, this does not affect me, but having an option on the right side, like in years past, would be great.

The Android Watch to get

The Android user's answer to the Apple Watch. Coming from a Fossil Gen 5 I was excited to give Samsung another try. I am happy to report that I made the right choice.
Quick Hits:
- Beautiful display, everything is crisp and modern
- Buttery smooth, no lag, very responsive to commands.
- Be ready to buy a nice band of your choosing, the band it comes with is not comfy or flexible near the lugs. Amazon has lots of choices, you'll want the 20mm bands.
- Does not fast charge per se. You'll need to give it an hour or two to charge, depending on how depleted your battery is
- No google assistant yet, but it's "coming."
- Samsung Pay and Google pay both work great

Battery Life:
- With Always-on Display turned on and the watch at factory settings, the 44mm model (bigger battery than the smaller version) will get you 24-30 hours with actually using the watch and not babying it.
- With the Always-on display turned off and the "tilt to wake" function enabled, you simply turn your wrist as if to look at the watch and the screen pops on very smoothly. When you stop looking at it the screen turns off. This mode gets you right around 48 hours of battery life in my experience. Again, not babying the watch.
In both of my experiments, I was taking a heart reading every 15 minutes and I had WIFI turned off cuz I always have a connection to my phone.
To sum it up, there is not a better Android watch out there right now. This is the one to get.
Phone paired to watch was a Google Pixel 5. The pairing was easy and done in a few moments.

Best Mouse I ever used. I love that you can pair to 3 different devices and switch over in about 2 seconds flat. Battery lasts over a month and when I do need to charge it I can plug it in for an hour or two while I go to lunch and boom, done. Ergonomics are great for me as well.

Best Movie of 2019. I was very happy that he won his Oscar. If you are a DC fan this movie really makes you think about all of the possibilities going forward. If you are not a DC fan, it is a movie you can enjoy by only knowing the general history of Batman/Gotham. Fantastic movie.

The 4k upscaling makes this streaming device the king. I really don't care about the price versus some of the dongles you can get for 50 bucks or less. Those dongles do not offer the type of experience this guy does. This is my main device for a $4,000 dollar home theater that I have built over the past couple of years. Dolby Atmos/Vision, 4k upscaling, no missing app support (like you get with Roku), and Shield's dedication to updating the software regularly make this the ideal choice for a major home theater.
If you no longer pay for TV the traditional way, this is what you should invest in. I use YouTube TV and the upscaling is amazing on it. I am basically watching 4k TV all the time.

I was considering the new Galaxy line of 2020 but having had one before I really do not like the way Samsung supports its products long term. I decided to give this Fossil a try at a reduced price versus Samsung. Boy am I happy I did. If you are someone who wants a smart watch to look good on your wrist, not be massive in size, and give you all of the functions you need, this is for you.
You will especially love it if you are a Google Pixel user since the software syncs with stock Android the best. The health features are sufficient and batterly life is typically around two days when I am using a custom mode.
I can easily recommend this watch to anyone who enjoy stock Android and does not like Samsung software all that much.
