Smooth Operator

The Airglide 14i Elliptical is an update to the former Commercial model. It's very smooth, easy to use and with the iFit membership (30-days free) almost entertaining depending on your selections. Walking tour of Ausrtralia or Ghost hunting in Boston to name a few... The machine is relatively easy to assemble, but HEAVY. It arrives in a long narrow box weighing 200 lbs. We did not elect to have White Glove assembly. The only hassle was the delivery which did not account for our long uphill driveway. The delivery guys moved it to the house (1/4 mile) using a hand dolly! The advantage of assembling it yourself is you get to understand how it goes together and can take care on the lubrication (and be aware of future maintenance needs.) Definite call out to Nordicktrack on providing such a nice set of tools with their machine. (Suggest you keep these handy near your machine because you will eventually need these.) The instructions are not too bad to follow. The video/computer based instructions are largely useless except perhaps occasionally showing assembly dynamics. It took about 45 minutes to carefully unpack the box. We did not follow the box directions as we would have had trouble "lifting the machine off the pallet. Instead we cut open the box in stages and unpacked starting from the top and one (long) side. We were careful in placement of all parts and checked the inventory with the instructions. There were no shortages. Assembly took well over 2 hours. We also placed it in the location and on the Mat BEFORE completing assembly (to keep the weight down. We have a high ceiling basement. But that is really something to check as you stand quite high on the machine in use. Getting the iFit account set up is a little fiddly. We did it on a computer first and then logged in with the machine. Also the machine does not necessarily need to be switched off as it goes into hibernation when not used. It does support multiple user accounts. But children are limited in age to 13 years note.
In use the machine is very simple. Just follow the instructions or watch a couple of YouTube videos first on using an Elliptical. The nice thing with an Elliptical is it is low impact and so not hard on your joints. But don't confuse that as being soft exercise it is not. Also the Nordicktrack is the only machine where the control is remote to the fitness program. You will either love it or hate it. But to get full benefit you need to use the iFit membership....The one definite negative is PRICE of membership - $40 for a family. :( That's way too high. Best Buy Geek squad maintenance/service plan is more affordable than Nordictrack's own BTW so you may want to consider that.
Over all we are very satisfied (so far) with our purchase. It is exactly what our family wanted. It takes a lot of space however, although perhaps a little less than our older Nordictrack incline trainer treadmill. That's still working after.... 18 years. Hopefully this will prove to be as robust and reliable. So highly recommended if you are looking for a very solid, smooth and easy to use Elliptical.

Great Hoses For Washer Hook-up!

These machine hoses are the typical ones stocked at Best Buy. They are basically a PCV inner, with braided stainless steel outer covering. They re superior to the older rubber hoses that manufacturers used to ship with machines. Those rubber hoses were good for about 2 years. After hat they start to show signs of cracking, often close to where the hose is crimped to the connector. Worse if you have a rubber aneurism (a nice bulge and thinned walls) on your hose you need to turn off the water now! At that point you are in the danger zone. There's a fair bit of back pressure on these hoses with modern machines with fast acting relay valves. You may hear water hammer every time the machine finishes a fill step. All of this means you are in peril of a potential hose burst, and all the mayhem that involves. These hoses are better in so far as they have stainless reinforcing etc. I returned mine not because of any issue whatsoever with the hoses. Rather I exchanged them for the more expensive Homework's hoses. They are the hoses that have another layer of colored PVC on the outside of the hoses. This helps when hooking the machine up. Secondly they are larger internal bore which helps the machine fill faster. They are also pressure tested to way more than your house supply will ever achieve. But most important they are good for 5 years. I am on my second set. Personal choice, these hoses are a great product, just not the premium. Both recommended. Glad to see that Best Buy offer a choice! Thumbs up for that!

These are your basic computer speaker. They are loud enough, have good fidelity and are not too small. There are better choices "if" you want to spend a lot more money. Logitech executed a solid design, that's good value for money and will probably last as long or may be longer than the computer they are attached to. Recommended as computer speaker for everyday use.

Sharp still make the best microwave out there. This is a no frills, well made, solid and heavy microwave. Replaced a long string of fried Panasonic Microwaves. This one has already outlived the last, Not the lowest priced option out there. But it cooks VERY WELL. Is simple to use, and easy to keep clean. Solid door, solid hinge and lock. The only drawback (may be) is that the sensor reheat is not so great, often have to repeat several times. I recommend paying the extra and getting a quality product from Sharp one of the worlds biggest and best microwave manufacturers.

These are the best hoses you can buy. No if's or buts..., had the last set for 5 years. Just replaced with a new washing machine. They recommend replacement every 5 years. These hoses are pressure tested well above anything they will experience in a home, stainless steel braided with colored PVC outer casing. they are also much heavier than the standard hoses. The bigger bore allows faster filling for the machine. Best Buy don't keep a lot of stock so if you are buying a new machine and want these make sure to have them ordered a week or so ahead of your scheduled delivery. Don't confuse these with the lower cost, smaller stainless steel set that they offer. Those are better than the standard rubber hoses but these are the best! 100% recommended.

Does this elliptical work without purchasing iFIT??
Yes there are manual controls included. But this is an expensive machine if that is what you are going to use. You may want to consider a more basic model as some of the cost of machine is the purpose built computer, sensors and high res color display which are completely unnecessary if you use it manually... Have you thought about subscribing to Fit monthly and then cancel membership in the summer when you are not using the machine (assuming that's the case.) It might make it more affordable? But if you really want the machine, it can definitely be used without iFit manually.
