This second DVD release of Maggie Greenwald's Songcatcher is a marked improvement over its DVD debut. The film is presented in a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. and English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary full of interesting tidbits about the making of the movie, interviews with cast and crew members, and a music-only track in order to savor the excellent music that is central to the film. This is a solid title from Lions Gate.

probably not a movie for everyone, but if you are into traditional Irish and Scottish music and want to see how it became Bluegrass when it came to the hills of Appalachia, this is the movie for you. Stellar acting, and singing performances throughout.

I am really into music, and after seeing reissues of some of my favorite albums I never had on vinly, and my access to some vintage vinyl as well, I wanted to get something to try, without breaking the bank. Reissued vinyl sounds phenomenal. Vintage vinyl still sounds good, but there is some of the nostalgic hiss to them, but nothing to worry about. I run this through my surround sound system.
